I have converted over to a MSD setup ( 6AL Box,dist, coil and wires) and I'm looking for some input on grounding.

I'm currently using a chassis ground and was wondering if running it directly to the battery is necessary? The other issue I understand is heat so I'm moving the box to the wheel well area as it currently sits on a shelf just below the rear latch.

Thanks in advance.

Michael

I don't believe the MSD box is weatherproof. I wouldn't mount it in the engine compartment. I mounted mine inside the driver's compartment on my Spyder so I don't have a suggestion for you. Ground it as close to the ignition box as you can. Use a star washer to bare metal. I usually paint over it after it's tightened down to protect it from corrosion. Good Luck.

This has nothing to do with you, Mike, but I'll never figure out why JPS puts the EFI computer in the engine compartment on their Subaru installations. Baffles my mind.
