Hello to all,

I'm finally to the point in my clutch cable replacement and Emergency brake adjustment where I am putting everything back together. While putting my Nardi steering wheel back on I connected the horn button and then installed it into the wheel, next came putting the outer ring on. Usually when I do this I line up the holes and then give it a little twist and I'm good to go. This time there is no twisting.....the ring will not mount on to the wheel. Did I break something? See pictures below.

After looking further at my steering wheel, there are two small rubber pieces that mount over 2 hex head screws and are hollowed out at the bottom (approx. ,453 in dia.) the number on the screw is 10.9  7A. The one that is still there on the left side is not in bad shape but should be replaced as it is crumbling with age and the one on the right is completely gone. If anyone knows where I can get these please let me know. In the meantime, I will scour the internet and see what I can find.......Thanks!

If you can't find the OE rubbers, I would replace two of the screws with standard Allen screws. They have a cylindrical head that a piece of clear tubing will fit over, hopefully fitting nicely into the aluminum ring. If they aren't large enough with just the plastic tubing, you could try a layer or two of heat shrink over the tubing.

I put the ring on, then hold it together with the horn button. I've seen plenty of cars where the horn button is installed first and the aluminum ring continually falls off.

30 bucks EACH? Wow, "Ben D. Over" is running that business.

The "grommets" on mine are made of plastic, maybe nylon.

Cheapest solution EVER: Get everything nice and clean and shiny. Fill two holes with clear silicone bath caulk. Apply and tape in position overnight. Done.

Silicone caulk/sealer is an excellent adhesive, and will come off without a trace on metal with little effort later.
