Which black rubber grommets are used with the usual Empi #00-3107-7 Nerf Bars? I went to install the bars and found that the bar’s mounting brackets are wider and a bit thicker than the brackets used for the stock bumpers. Which means that the holes in the stock grommets are too small. So, are there specially made grommets for Nerf Bars? Or, do I just cut open the stock ones?

While I’m at it, are there other mounting surprises I should be aware of?

There are 2 variations for the stock VW grommets VS Parts Inc, sells a flat rubber paperclip shape with a 1/4" vertical slot https://03bde6a.netsolstores.c...tobumperbracket.aspx

Me? I use a piece of flat rubber and make a simple poster board template then cut out the four needed and glue them to the car w/ contact cement.

I believe the '69-74 have a larger opening than the old chrome blade bumpers.
