OMG, Allie!

That's terrific!  Love, love LOVE that deep silver paint.  As the ad says, if it has orange peel in the paint it's just because no one has leveled and polished the paint - THAT will really make it pop!

You'll also be driving near @MusbJim's neighborhood in Newport Beach to pick it up - Maybe you can meet up and cruise the lower PCH!

Looks like you got the buy of this year for a nicely finished Speedster.

Now, get it registered, get out there and make a few ice cream runs!

Super excited. Exact color combo I wanted too. He used the authentic Porsche color.   Its a long drive from Oceanside so I’m going to have it delivered on a flatbed. I want to get use to it before I venture out on that long of a drive. It’s a nice ride, needs a few cosmetic fixes, upgrades but mechanically, electrically and body are all in perfect shape.
I think my Audi might be parked for the summer 😎

Congrats that's a good find ! I see a few things that will need attention but nothing major.   I'll suggest that you have the speedster checked over mechanically.

The Porsche silver GT paint materials is an expensive color and down the road that could be wet sanded and buffed out to get rid of most orange peel in the paint.   Nice Cobra style seats !

Nice specs on a desirable AE case - mild 1641 cc engine ..

Shows good oil psi at idle !  .................Does it have a top and side curtains ?

Dash : Brow over gauges was put on wrong it should have a sweeping radius to match the dash pod radius. also the vinyl is pulled above the horizontal dash chrome trim.

Some of the electrical wiring could be straightened up some. The brake light switch affixed to the brake pedal is a first and way funky, a new switch on the Master Cylinder and a new brake pedal pad cover will fix that .

Passenger door looks like it has the CMC issue of sticking out at the top ....A thin coat of caulk will smooth things out at the bottom of the windshield...

All items are fixable ....you can PM me for how to get that aligned as well as any other questions or How To's that will come up also maybe a phone call after you have the car and driven it some .

If you were close to West Virginia,  I would gladly tackle the list on your behalf.

   CONGRATS !

I can attest to this 100%. I bought a lightly used Beck in 2011 and made upgrades every winter until I figured what pushed my buttons. My car was delivered  June of 2016 and I have done nothing other than drive it and change the oil. At some point I will try and find a set of Vredestein's but honestly I am just happy to hop in turn the key and drive.

That’s a beautiful color combo. In my top 10, for sure.

Each of those places, Allie, are better at some things than others and if you're looking for Porsche specific parts they can become pricey.  Door handles and the interior bits can be found at Vintage Motorcars Inc.

https://www.vintagemotorcarsinc.com/parts/

If you don't see what you need, then call Anna and ask if they have it (some stuff is not listed on the website).

Or at Beck:  http://beckspeedster.com/speedsterpartspackages.html

or send Carey Hines an email at carey@beckspeedster.com

Leather Straps for luggage racks and hoods can be found @Troy Sloan.  He (or his wife) seem to have taken up this line after Dusty Johnson passed away.

For anything else, ask specifically on here and we'll all chime in and give you more info than you wanted in the first place.  Some people have private stashes of odd parts and might be able to give you a super-deal on stuff so just ask on here first.

What'cha lookin' for, specifically?  We'll all try to help.

Things like headlight stone grills can vary a LOT from one place to another - Some require that you remove the headlight lens and others don't, so maybe someone can chime in on what they have with pros and cons.  I have a 1/4" square metal mesh of stainless steel that mounts over the headlight lens but can be tricky getting them off and back on.  Others are a lot easier.

Mine look like this:

Speedster Replica Parts - Home (vintagespeedsterparts.com)

Used to be a good source - but out of stock for many parts and prices have increased.  Their online listing is easy to follow.

Many CMC items are right off a VW bug - like the interior handles and mechanism and the headlight buckets and stone guards.  Lots of repro VW parts - EMPI will come up often - just beware some from China is low quality - so don't just shop by price.

First Welcome to the Madness. I am now a 15 year owner of a Vintage Speedster I bought "new." Even with a new car there was several years of sorting to get the car to run well and be reliable. Part of it was finding a truly knowledgeable mechanic. My skills are strong enough to really mess things up. Based on years of following the hobby I would strongly caution you about buying someone's almost finished personal build. The cars that were originally sold as kits in general have many issues unless the owners are quite knowledgeable as some on the site are. Whatever you decide if you find a used one you will pay double what you did a year ago. Please have the car throughly inspected by a top notch air cooled mechanic. It will be worth the time and save you money and headaches in the long run. I have owned many Porsches over the years and other than sheer acceleration my Speedster is more fun than any of them. Also be advised a trip to the gas station or grocery can take hours because of all the interest your car will generate.

@Speedster Alli both @aircooled & @Troy Sloan make trick plexi-glass side windows for speedsters to replace the useless stock side curtains....i have a coupe, but have been in speedsters and these will improve the driving experience 10 fold to keep the wind off you a bunch...another on the "HONEY DO" list of parts to consider....just IMHO happy motoring
