Hello to all.

Last week I had a notion to get another speedster (I had a Chesil when I lived in the uk 20 or so years ago - full of original 356 parts, but marred by their high headlights). I must have seen every single one for sale in North America - none in Canada. But - the day after the notion, one popped up 10 blocks south of me, and long story short, I bought it, and luckily immediately sold my previous hobby car (‘41 Ford), and I’m off to the races.

So it’s a VS - built about 8 years ago I believe, and reasonably well detailed. It came with chrome 10 hole wide 5 wheels, front discs, a 911-style fan, and a luggage rack. The rest of it can be seen in the pics, so I won’t bore you with details.
As usual, it’s getting personalized - the rack is off, the wheels are painted, and I had some iron cross torsion bar covers 3D printed.

of course there’s a lot more tinkering to do... which brings me to my first question, which I’ll ask on the appropriate forum.

oh - and as an ironic selling point, this summer it won ‘best vintage Porsche’ at a dealership rally in Whistler, BC. I know it’s not a bad copy, but really..?!

I’ve been through all the gears and oil posts I can manage...

motor-wise, it’s marked as a 1600 - it could have a small big bore, but I honestly don’t know. Dual Solex/kadrons, and the aforementioned 911 shroud. I’d have stuck with a plain dog house, but that’s what it had. It’s also carbon fibre, so if I keep it, I will at least paint it black. It has some kind of hidden performance exhaust which at least doesn’t hang the mufflers below the bumper and has two small tailpipes, so that’ll probably stay. Bosch coil - some electronic ignition - probably pertronix -and that’s about it. I’ve done enough hot rodding to know to leave it alone for a while. Otherwise I’ll tune it until it doesn’t work.

We're going to need motor specs.

Word to the wise, don't bring up gear ratios, questions about the best oil, or brass weber parts.

Welcome to the forum.

Party pooper! And yes, we're going to need engine AND TRANSAXLE specs! (nothing wrong with a little gear ratio conversation!)

Oh- I almost forgot- tire size(s)?

PS- Great looking car, Tony.

Then, I didn’t like the chrome wheels, so painted them black. Cool. But actually they kinda looked too toy-ish on a black car. So, off they came again and got painted dark gray. And that didn’t work either. So now they’re stock silver. Which works, but sort of looks too stock.

I’m sick of painting wheels now, so I fitted a cigar lighter to allow me to power my phone and a speaker if I ever decide to try to listen to music or use a GPS.

And finished up an oil catch can to replace the one that was on there - it looked like an old plastic washer bottle zip-tied to the fuel line!

Welcome to the club.  I have been known to "continually improve" things, like my Dellorto carbs until they became un-driveable and I finally hoisted the white flag and found someone who actually knew how to make things right.  It takes a whole lot to happen to get me to that point, but at least I know I can spend my way out of deep trouble.

From my Hot Rod days, a '46 Ford Business Coupe done Old School,  59 A/B Flathead bored .300 over and slightly stroked, Ofenhauser Heads, Triple Stromberg 97's, Edlebrock Intake, LaSalle 4-speed and LaSalle rear end, stupidly radical track cam, Kong Magneto Ign.  Went like a raped ape up to 90 when the gearing caught up with it.
