Well, I guess it was bound to happen eventually with the amount of driving we do with the Spyder... Yesterday I decided to take the Spyder to work and a mile from the house the engine spun a bearing 😭. I am pretty sure the car won't be done in time for the cruise. The engine was running great and had oil so I'm not sure what caused it to fail. I'll have to see how long it will take CB Performance to make me a new long block. Really sucks as I was looking forward to driving her down the PHC with a bunch of Speedsters and great friends.

Damn, Ricky! So, ride down in your daily driver  and you and Vanessa can take Penny down PHC. I'll drive your d d...it's a Lamborghini, right?

@Terry Nuckels LOL... Funny part is that the main reason I was going to drive the Spyder, other than being a beautiful day, is because the daily is getting a whole bunch of maintenance done. I was being leisurely with the work on the BMW but obviously I will have to speed that up so I can start striping the engine out of the Spyder. We will most likely end up driving the BMW as much as it pains me, not that it's a bad car but the experience is definitely not the same.

Hey! ...at least it's Deutsche, eh?!

Night in Monterey update. I have a room at the Hilton Garden Inn for June 6 , Paul is on duty at the post. Calmotion and Mayomachine have expressed interest in perhaps joining up for night of dining and carousing. I am up for anything before my bedtime. The plan then is to join the Caravan (already in progress) at the Del Monte Shopping Center on Friday at noon. Anyone else interested let us know. My Cell 425-891-six, zero, four, seven. This is going to be a great rally.

June 6th Thursday night in Monterey. I have heard from a few folks that are interested in dinner in Monterey Thursday night. I am at the Hilton Garden Inn, Paul Watts is staying on The Post. Let me know if you are interested. Looking for Seafood recommendations. The plan is to meet up with the N.CAL contingent at Starbucks in the Del Monte Center at Noon on Friday for caravan down HWY 1.

As much as we would like, won’t be able to make Thursday night for dinner.  Work schedules and the like dictate we will make the drive to Monterey Friday AM.

As far as a seafood recommendation: my wife always raves about Vivolos in Monterey.  We also absolutely love going to Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing; maybe 30 minutes north of Monterey in the 101.  You may even drive past Moss Landing if you are coming from the north!

We will see you all at Starbucks in Del Monte Center!

Will anyone be running real time GPS on their phone.  I'd like to meet up with you guys as you roll through San Jose (I'm located in south San Jose, close to 101) to join you guys for the cruise/lunch to Monterey.  I would go all the way to SLO, but I need to be in LA for the weekend to pick up another car.  I realize it is only another 4 hours to LA from SLO, but the girlfriend doesn't want to spend that much time in the speedster going back and forth.  We already got airfare

BTW: There is NO Caltrans activity showing on Hwy #1 between Monterey and SLO as of 12:30PM Monday, June 3rd. Somebody light a candle and pray it stays that way. What the hell, be a big spender and light another one praying for decent weather on June 7th after 12 Noon:  i.e., no rain, no fog or low clouds, wind less than 10 mph, temp >65 F, and no RV's in the southbound lane!

It’ll take more than a votive candle for all of that. You better be straight up right with God for all of that and it better not be your first prayer.

I see Friday at Monterey at 56 or 60 and cloudy.

for what it's worth...AOL predicts "Breezy with a hi of 58 and a lo of 52". It's not so much I'm concerned about Monterey, as I am with the 136 miles of the PCH between it and SLO.

Hey @Vlad, I'm not the guy who would be able to text you when we get close. @Ryan (formerly) in NorCal introduced me to an app that does that but I've lost too many brain cells to remember much about it. However, @Rick99GSX and Vanessa probably could. They will be in their luxurious sport sedan while the rest of us travel, bundled up, through the cold, foggy and loud highways. Fortunately, there will be no rain because Rick and Vanessa won't be in their spyder.

I use Glympse to share temporary GPS data in real-time from my phone.

But it'll be of little use to @Vlad since I'll already be south of Monterey on the 7th. Others are welcome to provide him the camaraderie for the 60 minute highway drive from San Jose to Monterey.

See you all on Friday at Bixby Bridge, 1:30pm. (Leave Monterey by 1pm)
