Hello Lopez - I just signed up on this forum because I recently decided that my next car was going to be a Spyder replica. I live in Dallas and will have one soon (Si Dios Quieres). I am now working on a '73 GT bodies Porsche 914 that will have V8 power and A/C for my daily driver. But I gotta have a 550. I'd like to meat Spyder owners in the area to actually see one in person. Do you have one? If so can I come check it out sometime?

We can visit anytime after the holidays...weekends better. I have one 550 made by ACI ...Vintage got the molds and got the "new" company going with great success.

I have made some changes from the original set up...for example, I installed disk brakes on the 4 wheels... improved the cooling with a 911 fan set up, etc.

The car is useful in some conditions.... may be possible to drive the thing all the time if the weather is ok... we look good, but if it is sunny, it is hot in the summer and cold in the winter and wet in the spring and fall.
Soooo it is a car for pleasure ...but besides all the minuses...it is a trill to drive one.

I can show you mine and go from there. My cell is 940 391 8622.
I like some of the driving areas in Houston.... a place that I enjoyed was Kemah... especially a B&B called the White Pelican the sailing boats and fresh seafood were great. Anyway, in Texas we do not have many 550s in the area...one in Austin you in Houston and I in Denton...I am sure that there are more but in the background. However I have not seen them in the road.... lets keep the ears and eyes open...
On January 15 the Lone Star 912 group is meeting in Round Top (east of Austin) for an informal get together. If any of the Spyder owners are interested in making the drive you would be welcome. I have a 912E but have been welcome in my Spyder. The Austin Spyder has been sold but the owner still comes to the 912 events in his Jeep or 356 coupe...just shows the attitude of the 912 guys, not exclusive but inclusive. Here is a shot of the 912 line-up after the Zim's swap meet in October, note the small silver car in the middle of the 912's. Happy Holidays to all. Norv

Hey John Evans, I am 10 miles from the Woodlands and have owned a Spyder for a couple of years and run around in it all the time....in the Woodlands frequently....there are at least 4 other Spyder owners in Houston, with the next nearest to us being south of Tomball. Give me a call at 936-321-0157 home, 713-817-5477 cell sometime and we can get together and tell some lies? Or go on a Spyder run. Steve Courtney and I did a short run today up Egypt Honea to lake Conroe and sat on the water for a couple of hours....

regards,

Jim
