It was a gorgeous afternoon. Just set up camp on a remote beach, watched the sunset and ate an awsome meal. 3 (maybe 5) beers later we get word of the tsunami warning. Scrambled to break camp and get the hell out of there...
We're getting good at this (2 yrs in a row)

WHAT ABOUT OUR BUDDY IN MAUI WITH THE SAS

High and dry, Gerd. I'm at 130 ft elevation. But the beach accross where you, Vince and your right seaters stayed was closed because the waves washed up onto the street. The sand volleyball court was flooded. Youtube has a lot of video. Type in "the Cove Tsunami" or "Kalama Park Tsunami" to get an idea of the waves. Also type in Lahaina Tsunami. They said the waves went right through the fisrt floor of Cheeseburgers in Paradise on Front Street. No shortage of idiots ignoring the warnings so they can get their video on Youtube!! There's still a lot of debris on the roads so I'm not driving the Opihi until it all gets cleaned off. But it wasn't very severe just a little wet and minor damage. Some on the Big Island lost their houses.
