I was searching for a particular old info post and started to go through many that were 12 -14 plus years old, some people remain on this site realizing how many of the "Old Guard" regular's have drifted away for one reason or another.

You are right, Alan. There is a core of 'old timers', who have been on here for years, and also those who come and go (either after a long time or a short time). Any site needs new blood to keep it healthy, and this site is good that way.
There have been some real 'characters' on this site over the years, and a lot of solid guys (and some girls, too) who have always contributed good advice and commentary.
Then, there have been others who maybe should have moved on sooner... :-)
It's hard to believe that I am one of the "Old Guard," but I started lurking here in late 2004. I still consider myself a bit of a newbie, at least when it comes to depth of knowledge.
Lane: I found this site a year or so before the first SOC Carlisle gathering that we put together. That was after I watched 'Doc Hollywood', and got the Speedster bug. I remember Mike (?) trailered his car all the way from near Quebec City for that first meet, and I got to meet George Brown (who I actually found to be quite reasonable in person).
Was that 2004?
I logged on about the time Jim Ward ordered Ruby. I followed his cross county last ride. Was delighted to hear that Al Gallo bought his car and has kept it all these years. At one Carlisle even I won a Heidi Gallo watercolor of Ruby which is on my "Bonus Room" wall! Always thought TC/Team Evil's posting were interesting - he still occasionally posts on SAMBA.

Al Shapiro bought Ruby after Jim Ward passed away. The linked article is a record of Al’s road trip to Carlisle. He still owns it.
Jim’s first cross country trek to the Knotts Berry Farm west coast meet was in his first car (in 2002?). His first car was a black VS with a 1776, later sold to a young man from OKC.
His 2nd trip of a lifetime was in 2005. He took delivery of Ruby in Vancouver, then drove down to LA for the west coast get-together and back to OKC.
Reading this post I had to look at the 4 Long Distance awards made Cory going to Carlisle and the one for Longest Drive to the Tail of The Dragon. I'm reminded of Cory, Aaron White, Vince, Goofycat, Charles (The Guru) Gardner and others in the past but not forgotten. And like Bob said "others that maybe should have moved on sooner" perhaps he's right, I hope I'm not considered one. 
I've been here since '03. What started as a resource, this site has given me knowledge, wisdom, humor and many lifetime friends.

I remember Mike quite well. His handle was EXECK2 and yes from Quebec City. His excellent Wife "ran" the Quebec Carnivale. He faded away from this site around 2009-10 about when I got started.

Here's a lucky shot I took of you, Nolan and Aaron White near the end of our Megatrip in 2011. Look in the rear mirror....memories, eh ? My Wife and I got the longest driven trophy that year to the Carlisle event which has never been equalled. Sacramento, Ca to Carlisle, Pa with various diversions. :-)

I joined Spyderclub.com in 2000 or 2001. This site shortly after. Also anyone remember Gordon's Speedstershop site? I used to be VERY busy reading and posting to all three sites. Boy did I learn a bunch, still learning.
Speedstershop is defunct now, spyderclub.com has much less traffic than years before. It used to get quite heated back then with all the keyboard warriors.
Still friends with all of those who are still on. Some of those folks are life-long friends now who stay at our house and vice-versa.
I WISH I had Ruby!!! I found this site in 2007 just after I got my car. Had I not found you knuckle heads I might have shot my car to death. ( or maybe myself )
Thanks to all of you, my car is in great shape and no bullet holes.
The lifelong friendships are a more important bonus.
