Oddly, those two pics appear to be of two different cars. Overall colour, whitewalls on only one and convertible roof covers seem different. Hmmm.

Color difference could be due to lighting, and he could have swapped tires, but I swear the first picture looks like it has a Speedster windshield.

You have to understand something. Just because he's advertising the rental at $750.00 per month doesn't mean he's getting $750.00 per month. You can put any price tag on any item but it's not worth that amount until it sells for your asking price or, in this case rental price.

I seriously doubt that he will get any takers but, who knows?

I'm not sure our somewhat standard replica insurance would cover the vehicle owner in a formal rental situation. Maybe one of the knowledgable insurance gurus can chime in.

As with most anything insurance is obtainable through Lloyd's of London etc. but expect to pay dearly.

If someone were considering one of these cars, renting one for a month could be a cheap way to find out you DON'T want one (the rest of you - just go ahead and buy it, you'll love it). Plenty of speedsters (and far, far more spyders) get sold with only a few miles on them because someone decided it just wasn't their cup of tea afterall.

So rent one for a month and see if you like it. $750 is a whole lot less than you would pay in depreciation after buying one and selling it for used value.

where is the fun in building a $40K car to drive it 150kms last year - i mean a year.

I don't think it's legal to rent out a private car. Sure you can try this on the side but if he gets in an accident and then they find out it's not his car and his insurance finds out that someone else rented it..... nope this is an accident waiting to happen.
