Today I replaced the Optima Red top battery in my Speedster.  I did a very little research to decide on a replacement but the old one gave me perfect service for 8 1/2 years and over 22,500 miles so it made sense to stick with the Optima.  Price wise it was $175.      8 1/2 years ago and $219. for the replacement---a 25% increase which seems a little stiff but hey---it's for the Speedster---right?  The other top rated choices were about $169.

I bought a RedTop for my Afletta GT in 1996 when I bought it. My son replaced it in 2013. It's my record so far. Silver medal goes to my OEM 2008 Smart battery (Varta) which I replaced last year.

Honorable mention goes to my BMW F650 Yausa battery that lasted 5 years despite my running it completely dry twice.

IMO, Optimas are worth the extra money in a vehicle you plan to keep. I had intended to buy one, and the billet aluminum holder Summit sells, when I did my battery relocation last year, but I got in a hurry and just went with the battery I had and a plastic battery box from the marine store instead.
