Dear Friends!

Since 2015 I'm a  proud owner of a Vintage Speedster :-) with my car there was no manual.

In your forum I found a link to a Vintage Speedster Owner manual but it's only for premium members. ( https://www.speedsterowners.com...dsters-owners-manual )

Somehow I'm not really part of your community cause I live in Germany and that's the reason why I didn't purchase that membership... Of cause I feel connected to all the Speedster drives but you guys live at the other end of the world.

Do you think It might be possible for one of you to send this 9-paged manual also directly? would be great!

hey there,

as a new owner of a Vintage speedster imported from US to Germany I just received a list " how the Vinatge should look like"- a sort of order confirmation - AND a manual of the retrosound radio. That is all.

Any chance to get s copy of the Vintage Speedster Owners manual ?

( Oil, tire pressure 17", performance 2332 engine. etc ?

There's not really an "Owner's Manual" per se since it is a custom built Speedster. Your best bet is to get a Bentley's Manual about how to take care of your VW Beetle. There are no electronic controls for stability, traction control, speed control, lane change assist, GPS, ABS, automatic folding mirrors, and etc. There's nothing. You have a key, maybe a push to start button, a headlight switch, and a windshield wiper switch and those you should know how to operate.

Change the oil once per year or every 5,600 kilometers and adjust the valves. Every now and then you'll grease the front beam. Changing the brakes is in the manual if you don't already know how to do that. All of the real information you need to know is in the Bentley manual.

Fuel for 2332 cc engine is how many octane ? 95 or 98 ?

These cars are pretty light Bjoern so you may have to play with the air pressure to find the right balance between handling and comfort. With a classic bodied Speedster, ie not a wide body, I ran with 20psi or 138 kPa in the front tires and 24psi or 165 kPa in the rear. Too much pressure and the front tires will loose traction during stopping and cornering and the ride may be harsh. Too low and you'll put too much pressure or flex on the sidewalls during cornering and regular usage.

95 or 98 octane will work but the motor was built to run just fine on 89 octane but since you're choices are either 95 or 98 use the 95. If you have access to 91 octane that would also work.

thanks for your reply and explanation on air pressure - I will try and work it out as soon as I am registered and plated.

As of octane I came across a (german) report on different calculation methods on US and EUrope octane.

87 US octane is 90-92 EU octane = i.e. "Normal" with is rarely available any longer.

91 US octane is 95 EU octane = "Super" (with 5% Ethanoal I assume)  There is E10 available and common here , however not good for engines with carburators, I understood - so I will not use E10.

93 US octane is 98 EU octane = "Super plus"

Accordingly I will use "Super" 91US resp. 95 EU.

Bjoern, I don't know if it's available in Europe, but in some areas here we have 91 (US) octane NON-ethanol. I use this in my BMW R100 motorcycle and ALL my lawn equipment.

Hopefully the non-ethanol is available where you are, it's great for carbureted engines.

I even used it this summer in my Formula Vee for a non-racing track day. I'll be switching to avgas when I race next year.

I don't use either of these in my Spyder, due to 10.2:1 compression ratio. In that I use 93 octane 10% ethanol.
