As I understand it, the Maggie Valley gathering is to be in September.....   Has the date been finalized???   If so, I need it along with the name of the place we stayed at before.....  I'm trying to board the dog and take care of another problem....

Thanks...   Leon C.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.....

Read the Tour de Smo' thread located in this forum for all the gory details.  It's the last week in September with the cruises scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  I will arrive Wednesday and leave Sunday.  They had a block of rooms at a reduced rate for the Speedster Owners Club, but I suspect all of the rooms are gone.  If there are any left at the hotel I'll bet they'd let you have our rate.  I know Mike WarJas and Diane Croxford are staying at the place next door, which is also an option.

I haven't been able to get  Creekside Lodge to answer the phone and their website reservation system is a bit sketchy.  So, I don't know if I  have a room there or not.

As a backup, I booked a room at Jonathon's.

In any case, my wife, JianPing, and I plan to be there.

@LeonChupp how were you able to make contact with Creekside Lodge?

Mike/Leon - look forward to seeing both of you there.  Finally able to talk my wife (Patti) into going up in the MX-5 (Miata) with me for it.  Of course, she insists its an over night stay just to get up there.  Hoping to see Biltmore on Thursday and a local Ashville Brewery was recommended too. Just got back from Ireland so will bring a special bottle of Dublin brewed Jameson Whiskey.

I booked after cut off thru Hotels.com at Maggie Valley

Also mentioned was Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum should Carlise guys bring rain with them.

@WOLFGANG

We came a day early last year and did the Biltmore. It's something to see once, I think. If you appreciate architecture and history, and you like seeing how people with a net worth equal to a small nation's GDP spent their money, you won't be bored too badly, and in late September it shouldn't be overrun with a thousand thousand people. I'd go early- as the day progressed, more and more people started showing up. I'd also block out pretty much the whole day.

Regarding the hotel on the way up: happy wife, happy life.

Sierra Nevada, or Malt Disney, is cool, the beer and food are great, and they did spend a lot of money there, but technically, it isn't an "Asheville" brewery. It didn't originate here. They're outta Colorado. They just built a brewery here so that they'd have an Eastern hub. Same as Oskar Blues, and New Belgium.

If you go into Ashville, there are a butt load of breweries that started here. You could probably hit 4-5 of them just in the downtown area. I never go, cuz that's in the city, and I don't like cities.

Just sayin.
