Can anyone make a suggestion for rustproofing / soundproofing my floor pans? I'm going to be doing my new carpet in the nest week or so and I was wondering if there was anything that could or should be done to the floor pans to protect them? There are times that my car does get caught in the rain and the carpet gets pretty wet, I've actually had to bail it out a few times. I have no idea what to do, or if anything should be done? Thanks in advance, Mickey

Por 15 and then Dynamat. POR 15 is da BOMB!! It dries very very hard. Check ebay for the Dynamat. There are some good deals.

I made the mistake of laying the Dynamat before I even placed the shell on the frame. It has been a pain, becuase the stuff stick to everything, including your drill-bits and razors. If I had to do it again, I would wait until the carpet stage.

OK - I checked out Wolfgangs lead, he's right, Dynamat and Ice sheild are practically the same thing. I can't seem to find POR 15 anywhere other than online. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I have a bunch of things "in transit" for my car right now so I hope to be getting alot of this done, and a few decent drives in, before it gets too cold. Can someone help me with my top issue. I had my top repaired a few weeks back and with in hours of picking my car up there was a crack running from top-center down. I don't know if it was cracked during the repairs or from the top being too tight? It has been suggested that the center post may have been touching the glass inside the aluminum trim and the top was putting too much stress on the windsheild and therefore cracked at the pressue point? I have seen tops that look like you could bounce a quarter off of them, tight as a drum. My top doesn't seem too tight or overly snug and before I put new glass in there is there any suggestions as to avoiding this again? Thanks, Mickey
I used Eastwood's version of Por 15. It seems to be fine.

Also, if you are looking for alternatives to $$$$Dynamat, stay away from a company called Fatmat in PA. Their prices are good, but they took my money and never shipped the product. I had to get the PA Attorney General's office involved to get a refund. I ended up getting a different brand from a company in Canada. I will see if I can find the name for you.

Thanks Chuck! I put my seats in today (Man! Thanks god I'm skinny, those things are tight! No wonder so many Speedster owners have the roadster style seats!) Once my sister is done trimming my carpet I'll be all set. I'm going to order the stuff from Eastwood as a protectant and I'm gonna give the Ice Sheild a shot as the sound proofing material and hope it does the job. If it doesn't, than Oh well, it's not as if I really need it I just thought it would be nice. If it doesn't work then maybe someday when I do the TOTAL interior redo I'll get the Dynamat. For now I'm just doing things that enable me to see "all of my car" and see what might be needed down the road. So far everything looks pretty good so when the time comes for me to "do a Cory" I'll know what I'm up against. Thanks, Mickey
No offense was intended my good man - I was refering to the time when I decide to tear my entire car apart and build the "ultimate Speedster", so to speak, which I will affectionately refer to as "doing a Cory". On a side note: I not the sharpest knife in the drawer but, I would imagine there isn't enough sound proofing in the world to quiet the beast you've created. And I mean that in a good way!
