After looking back at some of the threads I realized that it was a shifter rather than brake lever that someone was reproducing. Seems that Dario once had some "original style" repro brake levers but he is apparently out of business.

Sorry for any confusion my confusion might have caused.
There are several aftermarket outfits that sell the complete lever assembly....BugPac (Bug-Pac?) comes to mind...They're generally cheaply made and of low quality. I have one that came in my Spyder. It does work but I can't get my hand between the seats to activate it, so I might as well not have it...Absent any responses more intelligent than mine, I'd check with some of the dunebuggy and VW sites...By the way, the piece was basically the same for Beetles from '53 to something like '77 I think.

Also, someone on this site was in the process of designing and building a repro of the original 550 Spyder e-brake handle...Don't know where he is in that process.
If the problem is not being able to reach your brake lever,
I have made several extensions that move the activation mechanism forward from 6 to 7 inches.

If several people express a desire for this item, I would need to produce 5 to 8 units to justify the machining and fabrication time
required.

The brake handle assembley that comes in the Beck, is a standard VW unit which can be had from several sources.
