I am looking for the following parts.  Windshield wiper complete set up.  Top fastener that closE'S and latches the top Up. Also, after just one trip to Carlisle I noticed that the washers below the wipers have rusted....??

I also need new knobs for the ac, fan etc.  after only about 3000 miles the sleeve on the insides of two of them have broken off...

I have been waiting for these parts from Henry at Intermeccanica for over a month and I don't want to wait any longer. I just need the parts.

I tried stoddard with no luck.

If anyone can help out, please let me know...

Thank you.

Henry is usually pretty on the spot with customer service. If he hasn't sent them, he may also be waiting for a supply.  Take this opportunity to learn the virtue of patience.

Right now, half the members of the board are keeled over laughing at the notion that I am espousing patience.  Shut up, you knuckleheads.

Point being, wait for the right parts. Buy them one time and you'll be happier. These cars are a journey. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks Marty.  I am going to call both of these places on Monday.  My mechanic is very CApable and even if I have to buy all new different knobs, I will. The latch to close the top and the wiper that I ripped off by accident while buffing the car will be harder to find but I am determined to find them so I can the them fixed, even though I never

Plan to take this car out in the rain again.... I cannot get over the rust! Wtf. Makes me wonder if spending over 72k For an intermeccanica was really worth it... Oh well, live and learn...

Chris you never posted the knobs? We can't really help with out more info.

Here is a close up of my wiper arm.  Almost 11k miles and it was also at the Carlisle tsunami and other events where it rained like Noah's Ark..  I think you are having some buyers remorse.  Take a deep breath and listen to what Ted said in his post  "These cars are a journey. Enjoy the ride"

Marty, I think you might be singing a different tune if your wiper washers rusted out after being in the rain once. Yours look fine. Your absolutely right about the remorse and it's for several reasons....the wipers are the least of it. I choose not to air it all out in this forum. I'm just looking to get my parts and move on.

And as far as rusted washers go, remove the ones that have rusted and take one to ACE hardware on Milk street in Westborough or to Koopman's Lumber on Worcester Street in Grafton and get a matching one in stainless steel so it'll never rust again.  You could try Lowe's in Westborough on RT 9 but I've had spotty luck with them lately on hardware.

Sorry, but I don't know what you've got to start with so I don't know if what you need is English or Metric but either of those places should be able to fix you up for under a dollar.

I also don't know what Henry uses for wiper arms.  Marty's picture looks like a later VW arm (post '72, when VW went to an "American-style" arm) but I can't be sure without having one in hand.  You could take off the remaining one (or the one which came off, if you still have it) and go visit Angel or Kevin at Autopart International on McKeon St. in Worcester (off of Cambridge ST. near Holy Cross Univ.) to see if they could match it up.

As far as the AC knobs, that set screw is key and pretty obvious, if that's what the problem is.  I would check down in the carpet to see if the set screws have fallen out and are hiding in the carpet.  If they're among the missing (maybe gobbled up by the Vacuum monster?) then those, too, can be had at ACE hardware.  Don't forget the Locktite when you put them back in.

Hi Chris, I think you should call Henry on his cell those parts are not usually in short supply.  I have owned an IM 2110cc for 5 years and they are not a Porsche boxster, you get the heritage of 59 era, but they need a bit of TLC at times. Some of the parts are still old technology and those are the challenges of owing one. On the other hand my original 59 coupe that I owned many moons ago was even more temperamental.
