Also take a look at Dean Polopolus's 911-4 (four cylinder 911 engines) if any of the cars that show up have them installed. The 2.4 liter version with Weber 48 IDA carburetors could probably make 220 BHP easily - Probably my next car project is one of these as a primary or back-up engine. Special case, crank, and cams with modified cam towers and valve covers (shortened), modified oil pump, modified cooling tin, and special distributor - everything else is stock 911 engine parts (but aftermarket titanium rods and aluminum flywheels are available). And you would need a custom exhaust. Dean says a complete carbureted 2.4 liter 911-4 weighs about 270 lbs.
Bruce, I am going to be at Gary's picnic Saturday. Henry is delivering my car to my home in Portland Friday morning and on to McMinnville that afternoon. I am having the pleasure of my new car being his entry in the 'show'. Gary seems quite excited about it too. Would love to meet another Oregonian if you can make it.

By the way, those little 911-4's are very cute indeed. Also very pricey. They seem to vary a little from whom one talks to in Gary's race shop, but the consensus is generally in the five figures. Sweet little engine!

I am going to run up to McMineville on early Sunday morning to catch the swap. Hope your car will still be there. My plans were to drive my Speedster up on Saturday morning and camp out Sat nite and leave for home Sunday afternoon but that plan evaporated along with other plans I had this summer waiting for my Speedster. Guess I forgot to pin JPS down on what year he promised delivery. In any case I'll be there Sunday, probabgly right before noon or so. Your car going to be there?

Bruce in Eagle Point
Unfortuately our schedule only allows about six hours Saturday. Can't even stay for the BBQ. I haven't been to one of these functions before but the reputation is for a pretty good party. I'm sorry I'll miss you. There are other events going on up here later on that are a lot of fun like the Porsche Cup this next weekend and, of course, the vintage races in early fall. We might even work up a road trip once you have your car. Good luck, Bruce, and stay in touch.
Scott,

That sounds good! Keep me posted on events in your area and I'll do the same. Have you ever been over to Bend and seen that restored red Speedster in the showroom, very nice. I think it belongs to the dealer owner, if I remember.

Give me the details on your IM. Is it brand new? Mine is still in the oven and is overdue to be delivered! Funny how they are never premature! They sure don't hesitate about letting you know more money should be sent. Just my frustration coming out I guess. We had a 3000 sq ft custom house built here in Eagle Point in 2000 and were quoted 90 day delivery, guess what, on the 90th day we closed and moved in so schedules can be met!
Henry and I talked about meeting at the campout while we were having fun at Knotts Berry Farm in April. I could not make the campout due to a new job and limited vacation time. It sounds like a wonderful event and if it is as fun as it sounds, perhaps we should make it a group event next year.
Dale,

Good idea. I'll post a report on the swap if I make it on Sunday. I am pet sitting two homes so will feed the critters, make the 250 mile dash, buy some stuff probably and scope out the scene. Looking forward to it even without the Speedster. I was looking forward to doing the campout with my little tent which should all fit in a speedster. Next year for sure.

Bruce
Scott,

Was that your car at the Parts Obsolete campout? It had B.C. manufacturers plates on it. It was tied down on a trailer so got a somewhat limited look at it. Silver blue roadster, rollup windows and a/c. Very nice. It must have been Henry's Suburban that was the tow vehicle since it had B.C. manufactures plates also. This was Sunday about 11am. Nice turnout of mostly older Porsches and VW's. Not many replicars to be seen but they were probably there Saturday for the show. Saw one heading down 99w while I was going north to the meet. It was a dark blue Speedster and got to believe it was a relicar. It was accumpnied by a new bettle, yellow and from the quick look I got of it looked kind of tricked out.

Next year hopfully we can get a group together for the campout. Lots of nice roads around there to drive and vineyards to visit and friends to greet, etc,etc....Bruce
Bruce, I had to leave late Saturday afternoon and just couldn't get back for Sunday's swap meet. The car you saw was a roadster Henry brought down that morning. He delivered mine Friday afternoon. Mine is a stonegray Speedster. I am pretty sure pictures will turn up either through Henry or PO's website. I am so sorry I missed you. Of course, I think it would be a blast to get a group together next year and do the campout thing. I have heard so much about Dale's car. By all accounts it's a real stunner.
