I know nothing about Kevlar in automotive applications.  In sailboat sails, it is used for its strength and ability to hold shape and at the same time be able to be adjusted for a correct power shape.

 

It's also used in body armor.

 

 

 

 

Oh, and important here, light weight.

 

 

 

OH. BTW, your build is coming along nicely...

NICE! Haven't seen one of these 3000 rounds a minute beautys since I watched a Cobra Gunship with one of these mini guns prep our huey insertion zone for us in the Nam. Saw the Snoopy Gunship work out with one of these and a Bofurs 150mm mounted cannon mounted in a side door.Spectacular fireworks!!!
