Plasti Dip paint fills the voids as I experiment with graphic ideas before I do the repaint. This might not be to everyone’s flavor, sometimes not even mine. For example, I tried to copy the GT2 hood stripes and then discovered when the masking paper came off, my hood looked like a big tongue. Peeled that paint off in a hurry!  Recently painted the lettering as seen on some 911SC canyon carvers. Painting/peeling/painting on my 4 lug turd-wheels too! Other improvements have been: Installation of  aluminum OMP Pedals - tapered  to look like the P-cars (I think it was Alan that posted that suggestion). If not please correct me! Painted my wooden steering wheel black ( You did what?!? ...) and best of all, redid the shift coupler, bushing and installed a Vintage Speed 11” shifter. You need to do yourself a favor and install one of these, or a Coolrydes unit. Improves the driving experience ten-fold. Have a look...

Hey Luis,

I used a stock type bushing, but if I have to do it again, I might try that one. I wanted a quiet shift action and that is what I ended up with. The problem I had was that I also installed a new shift rod coupler and I didn’t mark the orientation of the shift tube before disassembly. That really messed me up. Now I had to adjust the shifter up front and the orientaion of the rod/ shifter cup at the back. I wont tell you how long that took, but let’s just say I got off of work on Friday and before I knew it, it was Monday already. Long neck pliers are the best tool to use. The effort was worth it though. No more clunky, loose shifting. Good luck and research some of the other posts so that you have all the info before you start.

thanks Michael for the kind offer. don
nt worry about lending me the install kit... i ordered one this morning
with the bishing, it was discounted to 5$ when i coordinated with the
seller.... so im covered.

did the bushing trully make a difference?

im just wondering when i will install it.... it may be a while.... as the
plastic bushing is still in good shape. i hate touching the car unless
something is broken... i preffer to just drive it ;-) its been cold in
Seattle, but dry, so im still driving her almost daily. clear skies
today... perfect commuter with no radio/distractions ;-)

thanks again!

I was afraid the play in the brass bushing might relate to more metal on metal clunking while shifting. Apparently it doesn’t, according to Michael.

Back to Plasti Dip. Another great thing about it is, if you want to paint something a different color than they offer, you can use any paint over it and it will still peel away quite easily.
