I have a 1972 Type iv engine in my speedster but it doesn't have a dipstick? I know it sounds rediculous but it doesn't. It has a viewing tube where you put the oil in, but that is it and I'm worried that I have put too much oil in when I topped it up. Can anyone tell me how I can tell how much is too much without a dipstick and also what the consequences might be if i have put too much in. Thanks so much in advance and sorry it's such a dumbass question.

It should take 6.125 pints (3.5L)with filter (assuming no external added coolers).  So a tad over 3 quarts (3.06 qt).  Much over 4 quarts and the crank will beat the oil into a froth, oil leaks will intensify and oil will probably remain in the valve are and not drain back quickly to sump. Jake Raby (Massive IV) has a cast adapter to add dipstick for around $40.
