Sorry to hear that you had problems!  It really comes down to what dough you use.  I include two recipes and if you follow them, you'll get good cookies every time.  I also can suggest this recipe. I've been testing with it, and I think it might be one of my new favorites.

I can assure you that with a little practice with the cutter, and following the recpie exactly, you'll get a good cookie!

I’ve been using mine and it does depend on the dough/flour used. It should be fresh, Gold Medal works great. Also adding the right amount of flour to keep the dough from sticking to the cutter really helps. Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy. You’ll need a tool to help push the dough out of the cutter too, like the back end of a spoon handle.

Made some some short bread 356 cookies last week for Easter treats.
