Pre-Historic Races...Saturday, Sunday - August 9-10 2008
entry fee $0 last year - maybe a small fee this year plus 'park entry' fee of $8
parking - where ever!
no crowds - just the drivers, their crews and a few 'in the know' fans
traffic - no crowds, easy in easy out
.
We're gathering a Spyder Contingent for Sunday 8/10 - last year we parked together by the First Aid building just above the paddock area....several will caravan down from No. Cal with 8am meeting/8:30 departure / arrival about 10am - email me if interested for details rjiloty 'at' gmail.com

a little disturbing news from Laguna Seca - the party poopers are attempting to dampen the fun.....not sure how much this means since the 'park' is open - though

"Pre-Historics and Ferrari activities during the weekend of August 9-10 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca are not open to spectators. While the area is in a county park and open to the public, the paddock will be closed and there will be no spectator amenities such as restrooms, concessions or available parking."

Well, the Ferrari activities pushed the vintage racing aside a bit - but treated the fans to great 12 cylinder racing sights and sounds...
.
the paddock was closed, unlike past years - but I got a few shots in the Paddock anyway - and many 'on track' -

A few years ago I did a 24 hour mountain bike race at Laguna Seca. The "race central" was in the middle of the track. We crossed over bridges to get out of the race area and busted out thru the hills.

On the first day, the Ferrari club had the track itself rented. As I was climing back toward the track on my laps I could hear the wail of the engines - a rising crescendo of barely controlled mechanical violence. I actually stopped on the top of Bosch bridge and watched as they shot beneath me on the track. Nothing but a rocket of color and a doppler shriek of exhaust - amazing!

Quite a site (AND SOUND!) for a bicycle race!!!
