Prehistoric races in Monterey reminder

In two weeks, the pre-Historic race activities will take place in and around Monterey, California, starting two weeks from today. Rick Jiloty, myself and Karl Dempwolf will be there with our 550s. Weather should be good. Anyone else plan on attending?

It's Saturday and Sunday, August 12th - 13th....Laguna Seca
reportedly it's now up to an inflationary $5 admission....but still the bargain of the month in comparison to the next weekend.

Great photos, guys! I miss not being there in person.

Reminder - PreHistorics are Saturday/Sunday 8/11/07 - 8/12 this year - no publicity - all run groups run each day - no admission (except the $5? admission to the park) - park anywhere - no crowds, no traffic, no $400 hotel rooms - just fine vintage racing with little hassle - possibly only the South entrance to Laguna Seca will be open...

last year we (goofycat, Karl D, and I) parked behind the main straightaway stands - Ralph C came sans Spyder and parked in the Paddock after signing a waiver.

Saturday's my choice right now - but we'll see who is going when..

Barry & Kinau and their new Subaru Powered Spyder, Ralph C, and I drove down with Spyders and Doug & Atticus Saturday, meeting Chuck L and his early Beck Spyder there....

2 Spyders were on the track, and one additional apparently was in the Paddock with a blown transmission.

Another great time - easy in / parked just above the Paddock under the Position Pole/First Aid area - enjoyed the day - easy out.... no entry fee....

Pre-Historic Races...August 2008
entry fee $0 (ok they charge $8 or so to get into the 'park')
parking - where ever!
crowds - just the drivers, their crews and a few 'in the know' fans
traffic - no crowds, easy in easy out

2008 Event is Saturday / Sunday 8/9-10/2008

We'll likely try to gather a Spyder Contingent for Saturday 8/9 - last year we parked together by the First Aid building just above the paddock area.
