I've used my 3500# Quickjack to lift both my Nissan Rogue and Kathy's Subaru Outback.  Elevated both with ease, but I made sure I got jack stands under there before I started doing anything.  I would use jack stands even if I had the heavier QJ versions, but that's just safety-minded me.  Really nice for rotating tires and stuff.

Both cars have to be a good bit over 3500#.  Any problems with lifting?

I'm going to have to blame my misadventures on judgement, I guess.
