A little news: I took a spin around the block this PM.  Brakes seem to work just fine, engine still works although it was VERY reluctant at first in 40 degree air.  Warmed up nicely tho, and was very present a bit later.  Car seems to go where I point it now. I guess I got most of the nuts and bolts back where they belong.  More driving on tap, then a re-torqueing,, per instructions.

A no-news update: while I wait for a slot at the transmission repair shop, I have driven the car about for a bit, as posted above, and all seems good at the moment.  Handling the rear wheels during all that axle work alerted me to being close to the wear bars on those tires, so I bought two new ones and now have them mounted.  Other wise, its been as cold as a witches broomstick for a while lately and so the car sits.  Actually, were were at 4 deg F a week or so ago, and yesterday I think we hit 54 F.  Fifty degrees is A LOT.

They're saying temps in the midwest will continue to rise as moist air from the west moves east and is warmed by winds off the Gulf of Mexico.

Meanwhile, this will be met by arctic air from the Pacific northwest, and the two don't play well together.

It's all supposed to come together in the heartland in what could be some exciting times (the kind they spake of in the Bible).

So, you folks are supposed to be stocking up on flashlight batteries, beef jerky, extra blankets, and 12-year-old Scotch.

Be careful out there.
