Before buying a car/kit, I need to know about registering it in Virginia. This will be a daily driver, not an "occasional pleasure drive on a nice Saturday afternoon" type of car.

Is this even possible? If so, what boobytraps are out there? I'm fine with emissions testing, safety inspection, car tax, etc. I just don't want to go down a blind alley.

Thanks.

I don't know all the specifics, but Virginia has adopted some form of SEMA legislation. They have some of their own rules that are not typical of SEMA legislation. Factory built replicas are also treated a little different than "home built". There is a special approval process that factory built replicas must go through, and this is supposed to be done by a dealer or the manufacturer. I know that we (Beck/Chamonix) and Superformance have already been approved. This was done by AutoHaus in Yorktown, VA. Mike Kilgore from AutoHaus knows much more about this process than I. He may be able to better answer your questions.
If you would like to contact him, shoot me an e-mail and I can get you his contact info (I am at home now and don;'t have it here).
