I’ve noticed that the black canvas top on my 16 year old car shows a little fading and I would like to revive it. What product have you guys used for this? Thanks in advance for your replies!

i had an 06 Por with black top,,Por uses Hartz german canvas, they recommended Raggtopp, used it 2x, works great, water beads right off,, others say 303 is good also
Renovo, especially if just wanting to "re-darken" the same color. Works best if sprayed, but can be wiped on too. I'd recommend getting their full kit, cleaner, prep and color.
I've used several Raggtopp products also, and been very happy with them, just don't recall using a dye from them is all.
Same here; I use Ragg Top to clean and waterproof it occasionally. I meant basically dyeing it black again because it’s fading. I read that if you use Ragg Top the color won’t penetrate the fibers throughly.
Renovo has a cleaner that supposedly strips the water protection, then you dye and then you waterproof again.
THXs Carey for product suggestion.
Raggtop is recommend as a fabric protectant by Haartz (the maker of most fabric top materials). It is clear though and doesn't help to mask stains or abrasions. You just have to be careful with petroleum products on modern Haartz cloth as it has a rubber waterproof core. Chemical guys and 303 are other clear protectors.
Renovo doesn't appear to be readily available but Moss/Amazon does carry it ($110). It has some great reviews on Amazon. Protex seems to be a similar less expensive product (but check reviews). Wonder how Forever Black works?
I used ragtop cleaner and they’re protected and it works It lasted About a year when I was parking my car outside I tried auto Glyn and the stuff seems to last longer and bead much more I have a beige top
I have to confess that my car has been in the garage for five years and I’ve done it twice.
I forgot I Also used the E3 protectant and it was good like raggtop

Carey; thanks again for the suggestion. I found a U.S. seller on Ebay that has the cleaner and the color and I ordered both from him. I will report back.
Please post 'Before' and 'After' pics of your ragtop reno. That would be very helpful visual reference for the rest of us knuckleheads.

Finally, I don't think you have to worry for washing the top but anything else I would make sure to tape a plastic sheet all over your car before you spray anything on the car. just saying.
Here you go, sir:
Great thanks Impala.
Just don't let any of that stuff drip or overspray onto your paint or your glass. You'll have spots for a long time on your paint finish / windows. That happened on my MB E550 Cabriolet top and it took a lot of elbow grease to make it all go away.
If you look at the Renovo videos it says you just wipe it off the paint but it certainly makes sense to err on the side of caution.
Update; yes Renovo is a little messy but works like a charm. Posting half and half photos; with the solution and without. It definitely goes into the stitching; where the thread turns gray whitish when it fades.

How do you like the look close up? It looks good from a far
Hard to see with the photos upside down. Any chance you could fix those Impala? Thank you.
Not sure why the phone uploaded them upside down. Hope this helps. Notice how the stitching looks whiter on the untreated area. Tomorrow I need to get all the mess from the paint and the plastic windows. 🙄

After you do the dye job, how are you protecting it from water and rain.
Same as always. I will be using Ragg Top.
