Nice demonstration of phase separation, the process of the ethanol molecule attaching to the water which of course works in reverse as well. When there is no water present the ethanol will attach to the water in the air.

This isn't as big of an issue with evap systems on cars but our clown cars with open vents and gas that sits for a long time which is measured in months causes problems.

To get an idea of the effect of this ethanol scheme on engines, just drop by your dump or reclamation center in the spring and you will find an assortment of small power equipment which would not start.

True story. My nephew visits his sister in Alabama and sees the neighbor wheel a like new power washer to the curb so my nephews brother in law goes and collects it after neighbor leaves. It has a nice Honda motor on it, looks like it was used for a season but won't start so off comes carb and a little cleaning.

A short time later the brother in law is power washing the front walk. I  would have loved to have seen the face of the neighbor staring out the window.
