I recall seeing a post regarding this topic but I can't locate it. My question is this; after removing bolt from bottom of chrome headlight
frame on 2002 VS, I expected headlight to pop out. It didn't. Something (that I can't see) is holding it, and I'm hesitant to apply more than a little pressure (which didn't work). Any informed info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Art,
Lift up ring with lense. There's a metal tab on the top where the ring just "drops in". You may have to gently "wiggle" the assembly up, while clearing the tab. I'm presuming your 2002 is the same as my '01. I replaced both headlight assemblies when I first got the car because the chrome rings had small imperfections. (Kirk sent the replacements promptly). ~R
Rick,

When you reinstalled your replacement headlights, did you figure out a procedure for aiming them correctly? I just lowered the front end on my CMC and I'm having a lot of "FUN" adjusting them. The assembly I have has adjusting screws at "2 o'clock" and "7 o'clock". Any ideas? Is there a "formula"?

Brian.
Also, It's a very good idea to put a generous amount of masking tape around the upper edge of the headlight ring as it will help prevent a scratch in the fender. The inside of the ring is sharp and this can easily happen, especially if you have to "persuade" it to come loose. A little masking tape is cheap insurance.

Before you try to adjust headlights:
With the headlight assembly removed from you Speedster, take a look at the adjusting screws and how they tip the "bucket" inside the assembly when you screw them in and out.
Turn the adjusters in and out a few turns each to make sure the part that's supposed to move,(the part that holds the headlight bulb) actually moves.
I found that the aftermarket assemblies that came on my VS would not adjust until I did a little "body work" on them to provide the clearance for the bucket to move.
I tried adjsting my headlights before discovering this only to break a headlight lens.

Thanks Greg and Group,

The conclusion to my headlight adjusting issue.

The "plug" for the headlight was conflicting with the back of the fiberglass bucket. No matter how much I adjusted, it would just sit there.

I modified the "plug" for more clearance, and now it adjusts like it's supposed to.

Thanks for all the posts!

Brian.
