I’ve been thinking about taking the teardrops off my car and installing beehives because my CMC replica is registered as a ‘56 and the rear license plate light is a ‘56.
I don’t know what body or paint work will be needed if I do that though. Also where do you get the beehives. Are most beehives now installed OEM or are they repops? All the lenses on my speedster, front and rear, are OEM now.

Wow, lots of work but it can be done
@IndianBob leave the teardrops....your car looks fine....or go with the red/amber teardrops....IMHO , more work than it's worth to go beehives

I would do Euro lamps but first I would contact CUlayered and get their LED light boards, they are a cut above and will give you a lot more tailiight brightness.
At $225 per set for the LED lights I think I’ll pass.
again, IMHO the LED tail lights are not needed...mine are plenty bright...spend that $$$ on LED headlights

Bob, I've attached a (click on highlighted) > link to a thread from years ago regarding replacing standard brake/tail-light bulbs. My posts explain how I converted my standard bulbs with LED bulbs from Pep Boys (or FLAPS). Hopefully it will provided you with additional info on your bulb conversion.

@IndianBob If I remember correctly, the bee-hives and shine-down license light carried over into mid-57 before switching over to teardrop and shine-up license light.
Like @jncspyder mentioned, switching to bee-hives and shine-down license-light is not worth the work involved. If you're looking for an easy project switch to Euro lenses (Amber/Red).

Yes. And it's also worth noting that BITD the "model year" ran Sept-August so many changes happened in June/July.
I think some early '57s had teardrop tail lights with a shine down license plate light.
Yup. That’s what most early Becks, mine included, emulate.

Neet drawing of the back lenses, I like both but have teardrops.
It has been a while since I played with one of those, I was a kid.
