Howdy, My '92 Beck (Spyder) has a sticky front truck release, with it's pull knob located on the dash to the left of the steering wheel.

Looking to improve this, with a shortened and re-positioned lever/handle and cable, keeping the current latch installed as it's solid. Moving the knob/handle/lever out of sight is the goal too as it's a black plastic cheapo looking thing.

A steering column mount seems to be the best solid mounting point, no drilling needed.

Anyone have the similar assortment of parts to do this, I've looked at various websites and there are many handles and cables, but not sure about the mounting point.

Needed

- pull or lever w/cable assembly

- steering column mount that works with that assembly

Thanks!

VW Bug stock should work. You'd have to fab up a little bracket to clamp (or weld) to the column.

On my car I used a pull knob I happened to have in my spares pile. Possibly an MG choke pull, it already had a correct length of stranded cable attached. I bent an L bracket out of aluminum plate, added two nut-certs and socked it in under the dashboard roughly where the oil cooler grill slat closure pull is on the original cars.
