Yer an eveeel man, Marty!

K B: Check out "Recent thoughts on fall trip to the Smokies" (or something like that) for details. We'd love to have you join us.

EDIT: I just bumped the "Recent..." thread up. Short version: A bunch of us are gathering in Asheville, NC for a cruise of the Blue Ridge Parkway and a tour or the Biltmore. Much fun will be had by all. All rooms in our block are either spoken for or returned to the pool, so the reduced rate may not be available. If that's a problem, let me know. I have in-laws who live only a couple of miles away, and I could possibly let my room go to you, and stay with them.
As it happens, we can't make the Smoky's run (or whatever you're calling it these days) due to a wedding we're going to that same weekend, but we'll be at the Grove Park Inn in Ashville over the Halloween weekend, partying with some other friends.

As they say.....timing is everything!

Here's the spa pool at the Grove Park Inn:

Hugh Tackett (sp?), a friend of Tom Raymond called and asked if he could join us. He's not a Speedsterite (yet) but will be driving a Boxster RS-60 (haven't heard of that model, or maybe I heard incorrectly). He has recently finished his own "garage-mahal", which will be featured in a magazine about garages. His house is in the tri-cities area of NE Tennessee, and those of you who are so inclined and have the time have been invited for a tour. I'd love to see it, but am not sure if I can make it. We'll see. Anyway, welcome aboard, Hugh!
re: Hugh Tackett: spelling is correct, and he does own a 2008 RS-60 Boxster, plus a 2002 911 Turbo. Hugh is very active in PCA, and will be a fun addition to our group.

I recently photographed Hugh's garage for Garage Style Magazine, and the article is scheduled to run next summer. In the photos you will see his RS 60, his turbo & my 2007 Vintage Ultrawide in the center.......all three cars are silver.
Oops..I didn't see this thread until after I posted on the old one.

Is the count still at 18? I need to know ASAP to confirm the total at the Fiddlin' Pig. A must for up front seating. I'll drive the Little Intestine (74A) to personally make changes as necessary....Please confirm numbers ASAP!

Gents,

Back from Northern and the Republic of Ireland. Bummer...Levi's at 109 Eros = ~ $141.70. Levis bought in Ireland has made a new meaning to "made in China". Big profit for someone! Fuel was at 1.30 Eros/liter. Tank-up in America. Oh, I forgot to mention the VAT tax at 20.+ %. NO SPEEDSTERS anywhere!

I'll be confirming our total of 20 for the Fiddlin' Pig Friday 8 October. Bring your own banjo, fiddle, getar, spoons, etc. I've also talked to the weather gods. I bought an Arran wool sweater just to be sure! Remember the Speedster adds..tops are for emergency use ONLY!

If anyone can not get a place to stay...call me.

Leaves still green at this elevation. I'll keep all informed as to conditions.

And Lane, Irish Whisky sucks. Only Scotch allowed, distilled on Islay is preferred. Should any one want to try "good stuff" let me know. Need time so I can find may map and dig up the jar.

Are yo'll ready????
For those that want to do a bit of internet research:

At Jay's site, scroll down till you see the Pebble Beach 2010 prompt
Then look for the video "Motorcycles at Pebble Beach". The obnoxious clicks and flashes going off during the video are mine.

FYI: Dale Walksler is currently riding a 1915 Harley across the USA

Well, since that link doesn't work, you might want to try this:

Pretty interesting read. Some of you might ride along with him (check out "route")

Jack! He stopped in Hot Springs! Too bad you missed them!

Looks like they're in Gallup, NM, about now.......a'headin West to Santa Monica.

Vince! Head on out (you still have a bike, don'tcha??) and see them arrive at the Pacific!

All I can think of is, after 2 weeks of riding those nostalgic but severly lacking padding saddles, those guys are gonna have some real tired butts!
Lane, do you have us in the 7 count? BTW there will be two Boxsters at this event. I had an IM deal in the works that fell through after selling my VS. I had El Guapo helping me with the purchase of a very mint 06 IM. He even had the cashiers check in hand. The seller was elusive and I got spooked, so I pulled the plug on the deal. Like a dummy I went and drove late model Porsche's and ended up with this. Turns out I love it.

In the future I would like to keep the Boxster and build a 356 water cooled IM Roadster that I can utilize more often. So, I have been concentrating on business for now and putting some pennies away for the annointed one to build my dream car one day. For now life is good:)
