yo jon.....not that i saw....just the real deal 993 996 etc & late model and newer GT 3 crowd at the dealership....the galpin big shots and sales guys know my car and don't seem to mind...they put it right up front for all to see

I used to attend PCA stuff with my Spyder. They would put my car up front too. There was a picnic where there was an actual Porsche GT(V-10 SUPER car), an actual just-restored 356 Speedster, and my car. All three got stared at all day.

All the rest(911 and 996 variants) were basically ignored.

@DannyP been there, done that...it's the usual norm...i LUV all the 911 variants but the fact is they start looking like "cookie cutter" cars...kinda like a row of "57 chevys...my favorite of the morning was a RSR clone...real deal PORSCHE, but a facsimile...but still 100% BAD ASS

I think that fact (that they just disappear in the crowd) is the major 911 selling point, at least to me.

Hard not to like the 356 and 911 shape, of course if you like them

Sure, on the road or a stop light. But no one wants to blend into the ecenery at a cars and coffee or what's the point?

If I go to a show or C&C (which is rare), it’s always to see, never to “be seen”.

I park someplace out of the way, and just leave the car. Showing off is not my jam. I know what I’ve got is the coolest thing there, I don’t need to convince anybody else. I’ve got what I want.

Again, that’s just me. If a guy digs on waxing up and parking in the sun for 2 or 3 hrs, I’m 100% OK with it. It’s just not me. I’d much rather drive.

Nah that's not me, I don't own cars that will go to cars and coffee Stan.

Perhaps I could have better worded my post; Most people go to and the general purpose of Cars and Coffees is to be seen, to exhibit, to show off, the be glorified. You can't do that in a 911 or Cayman or other "me too" car. It's why 356, even replicas get so much attention.

I go to C&C to hang out with a bunch of my car guy buddies.  The other cars there are secondary as I’ve seen most of ‘em before.

Well there are some cars that would be hard to get into .... but mostly to fit your head into it.  Oh yeah thank God we own convertibles.

I only do like, 2 or 3 Cars and Coffee speedster/PCA related events, all are small-ish (well under 60 cars) and relatively local.  Mostly, everyone shows up to see their friends and maybe see something interesting that hasn’t been there before.  There are a few decent Hot Rod C&C events locally, and those are always fun, too, but they really don’t know what to do with my Speedster (neither do the VW events, for that matter) and all of the Hot Rod guys know each other like a private club.

The Audrain Auto Museum in Newport, RI, has been running a Cars and Coffee since 2019 and it survived the pandemic to become one of the best attended on the East Coast, with 600 - 800 cars regularly attending - Think of it as an East Coast Pebble Beach event.  The Audrain event has a lot of people who want to be seen, both them AND their cars, and there is now a lot of jockeying for attendance and field position going on, with a newly announced “Cars and Coffee Season Membership” at $500 per season to guarantee coveted field positions (and free coffee at the concession).   Whoopee.   The one I went to (I rode down with Hot Rod Charlie in his restored 911 track car) was well attended at the Newport Polo grounds, but I found that relatively few owners there could actually offer details about their cars.  They mostly owned their cars as investments.  They seemed to be happy to be there, but it left me wanting more from the event.

That is not what I want in a C&C event - I just want to have a nice ride there and back, maybe with a grandson in the right seat and see a few friends at a nice, relaxed event while I’m there….And maybe a decent cup of coffee (and a decent rest room for later on).  Maybe visit Cape Cod over a weekend to do the C&C in Yarmouth on Sunday with Hot Rod Ron, then do a little in-shore fishing from his boat for lunch or dinner.  Stuff like that.

I’m with Stan. I go to look. Generally park my car and leave. After 15+ years of ownership, I’m still surprised how many people are astounded by the 968. Both it and the 550 always draw a crowd.

@El Frazoo  you can ck out www.socalcarculture.com   but you cant go wrong with SUPERCAR SUNDAY in winnetka from 7am till 10am    entrance is at victory blvd & mason st   between de soto & topanga canyon  not all that far from pasadena....look for dustin   the "guy in the orange hat" who puts on this gathering   you almost cant miss him...tell him jim sent ya ...happy motoring!

Made the ride to the supercar show. No speedsters, but did see an orange hat. A few beetles, one truly blue one tricked out for racing, roll bar, racsrris, the works. And a '63 356 coupe original to the family. Every single documentation from day of purchase. Some very heavy duty iron at this show. And a nice MG here for @edsnova, not Subie powered.
