I've had CB Perf's 1915cc engine..... It was a solid 120 hp and did an adequate job.... 0 - 60 was around 9 secs. and with the freeway flyer, would definetly hit 120 mph if pushed and you had the guts.... Car gets light over 90mph.... If I were to do it over, I'd go with a 2275cc or 2337.... The torque would be unreal in this car ..... Check with Lenny C. on Spyder club.com...
Joe -- the 1915 will make you a really nice, drivable sports car. How fast you can go around a corner won't be different no matter what size engine you have. Getting out of the corner
though . . . .

Figure that with the 1915 you'll have 3-times the power of a VW Bug and about 1/3 less weight. So it will be sporty.

On the other hand, as Leon alluded, more power means more fun. But only if you are the kind of driver who routinely lays-the-power-down. These little spyders with 200hp 2332cc fire breathers have power to weight ratios of some supercars. Not many supercar owners are driving at 9/10s around the neighborhood streets. So lots of power is largely academic -- interesting, but useless.

But then, there is always the freeway on-ramp that just begs for a blast of wide-open-throttle. Yeeehaaaaa . . . .
Specifying "1915" alone doesn't tell the whole story. There can be a lot of hot stuff in a 1915. But usually a 1915 build is a stock 1600 with just larger pistons and cylinders. Maybe it might have 1.25 ratio rockers, maybe a slightly warmer cam, but other than that it is probably mechanically stock. Presuming that is the case, reliability will be about the same as a stock VW Bug -- in other words: legendary.

The dual Webbers are a big plus, and they are appropriated sized. Pointedly, they will be your most significant maintenance concern. But once they are balanced (mandatory rod end linkage trick) and tuned, they can also be worry free.

I don't know what the most popular spyder engine is. But if I had to guess it would be the 2165 built to about 140-150hp. And, these engines are bulletproof.
