I am new to this site and find it is a wealth of info. I have been looking at the big 3 manjufactures; IM, JPS and VS, as well as the ebay site. I must say that the ebay site is great to see what the 356s really looked like. The IM site talked about how the 1959 year was the first with side windows in the Roadster. My question is do the big 3 use replica seats, what is the difference in the speedster seat vs. the roadster seat. And what about the side curtains vs the roll up windows. I live in NJ and it is always advisable to lock your car. Do the side curtain cars have door locks? Is it a problem for anybody to leave their cars unlocked. Comments please

Speedster seats are a low back bucket. Roadster seats are a more traditional type seat with a headrest. IMO the Roadster seat is more comfortable, but the Speedster seat holds you tighter. All the builders will put whatever seats you want into your car.

I don't think any Speedster/Roadster owners lock their cars. As Ed said, if they want into a convertible they will get in locked or not. The difference is the damage they do getting in. If you leave the car open they will not do damage. If you lock it, they will cut the top. I don't even bother putting the top up. If you want to steal something out of my car, you are going to have to do it in the open where everyone can see...haven't lost anything yet, but then again, I have only had the car for 4 weeks.

If you are tall, consider a car with roll up windows. The side curtains really restrict visibility to the sides...unless you only plan to drive the car when it is warm enough that you can leave the top down and the side curtains out.
