The problem is if the item is still hundreds or thousands below what you would bid, if pressed. What do you bid? That's why the auto max bid option is valuable

That’s the point! I bid the max I am willing to pay and don’t worry about it.  There should be no emotion in bidding, that is how people overpay.

The eBay system bids the price up using automatic bids until your max is reached.

Car flipping.  I blame it all on Covid - everyone stuck home doing their list of repairs/upgrades and when they reach the end of list --- then what?  I've been watching 20 years of Law and Order out of boredom.  Wife can watch the same episode 3 times with out realizing she had seen it before.  Now on Chicago PD - never will I venture to Chicago again.  I have a long list of cities I will avoid like the plague!

We are heading out at 3 am EST to head to Tama, Iowa to pick up the V8Archie GT4T which is what he called the cars. I think only this one and one other were ever made. I usually pay my friend Matt to take the cash and pick the cars up but I am going with him this time to check the car out before I hand over the cash. We should arrive at the car around noon.

Below is a link to an old public access TV show about the car. The "Hot Chicks" are a hoot. The show does give a good idea of  what of the Fiero is actually left intact. A new frame was built incorporating the engine carriage. All new suspension arms were built using adjustable coil overs on all 4 corners. It really isn't the regular fiero based replica car. I spoke with Archie for a couple of hours about how the car was built and it sold me on buying it. The frame was sent out and completely powder coated. The engine was a new crate engine from GM. The TPI was added because a John Deere Exec. pulled Archie over and said he had to have the car and asked what it would take to buy it. Archie was going to keep this one for himself and wasn't looking to sell it. The John Deere guy offered him $60k for the car if he would make it fuel injected and Archie sold it. This is all as Archie told it to me last week. He seems like a good guy and told me if I ended up with the car it to call him if I needed any help with it.

We left at 3 am this morning to start the supposedly 8 hour drive to get from Corydon, In. to Tama, Iowa. The weather had another plan. We hit freezing rain as we crossed into Illinois and the interstate was closed at Danville for a couple of hours from 5am to 8:30. We saw semi trucks and trailers jack knifed and one flipped on it's side and countless cars splayed all over the road. My buddy Matt a professional truck driver had checked the weather before we left and saw a front that was supposed to stay south of our path. The storm acted like it was intentionally following us. The freezing rain eventually turned into snow, we kept moving forward at speeds between 30-50MPH. We finally drove out of the storm and for the last few hours of the drive the road was clear and dry thank God. The entire time we were in the ice storm I was thinking "Please don't let this car be a pc. of junk Lord" I would hate to have driven through all of that to turn around without a purchase. I am happy to say the car turned out to be much nicer than I expected, that was a V8Archie pickup 7huge relief. Jason the seller was a friendly guy who made the transaction easy and fast. We had the car paid for loaded and secured all within an hour. We would have had to drive back through the same storm so we decided to stay the night in Cedar Rapids Iowa at a local Hilton. I am writing this after having a good steak dinner and have been awake now for over 30 hours. I think it is time to get some sleep. I am excited to get the GT4T home to start going through her. Thanks for going on the ride with me. Please see the video and pics below.

Jimmy,

Glad things are working out. It s all about the journey! Great car. Looks awesome. Nice truck and trailer too. Great to see a classic steel 45ACP. I would have suspected a Tupperware piece with all the plastic you/we have all have become a accustom to through out the years.

More pics and videos please.

Way to ring in the new year.

As we were driving through the frozen tundra after just entering Iowa we saw a large coyote standing on the side of the expressway. When we pulled into the drive of the owner of the GT4T we noticed the dead coyote hanging from the fence and another on the ground in front of it. The owner of the car is an American Indian or the Cherokee tribe. We asked about the coyote and he told us they snare and kill them because there are so many of them.

I just arrived home around 4:30 EST and have the car in the garage. After a quick going over of the car I am more than happy with my purchase. I drove it around my subdivision after taking it off the trailer and oh my gosh the car is fast!! It should be because it is little more than a V8 engine and a couple of seats. I think I will have many hours of fun with this unique little ride.

PS The wheels on the car are the Halibrand replica knock off wheels. One of the pics I posted was of the car I found online when it had different wheels that I posted by mistake from my archive.

@Jimmy V. very 👍 nice and congrats on purchase. Love those wheels instead of the first picture.

You could be right, Robert.  The pic is too small to tell what it is (my guess was deer), and with my (somewhat) limited knowledge of how to work this thing, is too much work to transfer it to pictures in order to blow it up for a clearer view.  We are familiar with coyotes here in the lower mainland.

Jimmy confirmed it’s a coyote. I can spot those rails a mile away.
