Don't buy anything from these people.

When I bought some stuff from these people the return policy was simply 14 days.

They will just give you the run around if you try to return anything. You will be forced into just sending it back without the RO number.

Then after getting the stuff, they waited a couple of months to claim I hadn't sent everything back. I had Insurance on the package, but they waited so long, it was impossible to use.

Then I was forced to file a disputed charge claim on my credit card. Since they didn't credit me back the entire amount. They waited another 3 months to respond and claim, that not all of the items were returned, that some were damaged, and oh, now they claim the items were not returnable.

They just keep making things up as they go along. They lost in the dispute process, because I had all of the proof. They then had the right to go to arbitration, but instead sent a bill to a collection company to damage my credit.

I see now they have changed the website on returns. Believe me the next person won't be able to return anything, and if they do, they will try to claim the items were not returnable.

I'm just saying that if you have a problem and want to return something, they are a real pain in the butt. I tried to work something out in the beginning with them, but they just kept blowing me off. As the return period started to get close, I was forced into sending the items back and going through the credit card company.

During the dispute process, they first claimed, I didn't have a right to return the items. But I had proof that I did have the right and that it was returned on time.

Then after he didn't win, he decided to change the story and make a new dispute stating he didn't get everything back. Then when that didn't work, he changed it to, the items were damaged. Well, I had insurance on the package, but after 6 months before he finally claimed damage to the items, the carrier understandably didn't want to talk about the problem.

I went through the entire dispute process with the credit card company. After looking at all the information the credit card company sided with me.

The response from Sierra Madre to not winning the dispute, was to send the amount, they had already lost in the dispute process, to a collection agency.

Just be aware, if you want to return something, they will pitch a fit and make it as hard as they can. If they don't get what they want they try to screw with your credit rating by sending a bill to a collection agency. The collection agency then reports on your credit report that you have a debt in collection.

Now I have to go through the process of sending all the information to the collection agency and the credit bureau.
NLA was recently bought out by Stoddard. Hopefully that doesn't effect their service, as I have been very happy with NLA over the years. I have noticed a dramatic increase in their parts offerings. Also very happy with Stoddard. Maurice in parts is eager to help out. That being said, I have never had an issue with Jorge at Sierra Madre in 1/2 dozen dealing w/ them, but maybe I was lucky...
It has been pointed out to me that this thread is somehow an example of me being unfair, inaccurate or that posting these types of issues isn't right. Frankly, I'm not sure what it points out to this person.

First let me say, that I didn't even post this information, until the dispute was settled by the credit card company, and they then just tried to screw with me some more.

I have spent many hours and taken great effort to provide a lot of information on vendors in the shops section. I apologize to anyone who feels I just report the bad things, and that I'm not balanced. I think if you look at the total of my postings in this area, you will realize that is not really true.

As for not airing these types of problems in public. I will agree, that every reasonable opportunity should be given to the Vendor to fix the problem. But to not report serious issues and problems is lazy and selfish.

Steve,
I for one appreciate you telling us about your experience. I feel the same way about Toms post on his coupe. I don't know why people feel it's not fair to the vendor when a customer reports a bad experience. I own two businesses and I feel it's my obligation to take care of my customers. If they have a bad experience than I do everything to make it right, sometimes to the point of not charging them for their meal AND giving them a free meal the next time they come in. To the point of not reporting on the "good" experiences; When you seek out a business and you pay them for a service and you get what you paid for that's the way it's supposed to go, isn't it? I don't expect my customers to blow sunshine up my ass because I did what I was supposed to do when they came in, why should they? They paid me to do it! Now, if we go above and beyond in some way it's nice to be recognized for it, but NEVER expected.
I'm overly critical when I go out to eat and for that reason when I do go to a place and someone asks me how it was I usually give them the basics. If it's adaquate I tell them it was a nice place, good food, ect... If it's exceptional I highly encourage them to go and exeperience it. And if it's bad I tell them maybe I caught them on a bad night but that they should try it.
In my business the people dealing with the customers are the MOST important part of my business and I remind all of them of that everyday!
True Brad, but the credit card company already looked at both sides, and said I was correct. You should understand that as part of using a credit card and as a part of accepting credit cards, both parties agree to the conditions and stipulations of the credit cards use and the way disputes will be handled.

I guess, the only thing you could question is if the credit card company really agreed with me or not, and was the dispute resolved by the credit card company.

I will scan the document and upload it, just so no one has any doubt.

In fact in the future, I will show the proof on all such issues, even if the vendor would rather I didn't.

Go ahead and do business with people like this if you like, but if you have a problem you got no one to blame but yourself. Don't wine because you weren't warned, and that no one told you when the information is out there, you just choose to believe it was an isolated case, or that it is explainable, or that the customer was just unreasonable.
How would you feel right now Brad, if I had your credit card number and decided that by repsonding to your post you should pay me.

I charge your credit card. You dispute the charge as you never agreed to pay me for responding to your post. Then after disputing the charge and going through the process not once but twice per the credit card agreement, and the credit card company agreed with you, I decided, hey I'm mad because the credit card company didn't agree with me and I lost.....

I know!!!!!!!! All just send the amount to a collection agency and pretend like it is money you owed me on an "account" you had with me. Yea, thats it, all just screw with you some more and maybe it will cost you some money by screwing with your credit rating.

Hey, there are laws against that you know.

Or maybe I don't like what the person is saying, so I threaten to sue them to shut them up.....yea, none of us have seen that one before.
