Hi all, as much as it would be nice to always have 1000 miles on the car, my speedo wont make the turn to 1000. Any tips/tricks? Thanks!

Speedo works but odometer doesn't? Is it a 356 repro VDO gauge perhaps made in China? Fix is most likely to replace or have the guts replaced by Hollywood or Palto Alto Speedo repair. Or 914 VDO gauges. The 914 odometer has a plastic gear that commonly fails as the grease dries out.
Marc: Is it the regular odometer in the middle f the gauge or the trip odometer at the bottom of the dial?
If it's the trip-meter, all of the Chinese reproduction speedos have a fatal flaw whereby if you try zeroing out the trip odometer while the car is moving it wrecks some gear inside and the trip-meter no longer functions. Most of us learned this the hard way. The only cure is as Wolfgang mentioned; Have North Hollywood Speedometer rebuild it with better stuff inside. If it's the trip-meter that's messed up, I just ignore mine because the regular odometer is still working fine (always a relative thing with these cars).
If it's the regular odometer, then again, North Hollywood Speedometer or Palo Alto Speedometer.
Beware - Both are very good shops, but neither is cheap.
Sorry Gordon, my mistake. The Odometer is stuck!! Not the trip part where you can reset, the one above where you cannot reset it.
I had that happen several times(3-4 IIRC) on my Bug, Speedster has proven luckier. My Bug Mechanic took it to a Speedo guy , both in Texas and NM and I'm back in business I don't recall the fee but it wasn't astronomical. Mechanic pulled speedo and put it back in , easy, pleasy. Good luck.
Week or so late on this one -
