More details about builder, date of manufacturer, where the car is located, engine and tranny specs if known, condition of brakes, tires, paint and any options are never a bad thing. glws

I prefer less details.   That way I can buy them while everyone else is asking questions and kicking tires.

Car is located in Rocklin California. 1600 CC engine. Built by Vintage Speedster. Tires in great shape. The vehicle was just given a tune up and drives great. If anyone has questions about the car or is interested please give me a call.

Also, I agree a form would be nice to fill out.

Just a word of caution for a great idea: it will be extremely easy for this form to get off the rails with minute details that most sellers don't seem to know. You wan't just enough detail that they'll still fill out the form with the basics and not so much to discourage advertising it here. 

No one is going to fill out a 7 page form because some gearhead with no intention of buying the car is curious 

Just don’t let Al (ALB) design the form... :-)

Troy gets first dibs in the Caulifornia area so it can be real short.

Just have them fill it out and forward it to me for approval prior to posting.

I don't want to clutter this classified with too much on the responses to the form.  There is now an item in the Classifieds menu named Rules and Tips.  
It lists

• Include complete details with location, history, price and honest condition.
• Include many photo of the item from different angles.
• Do not include hype. (ie. Best built car ever!)
• Do not post ads selling VIN plates or titles or copyrighted items - this is illegal and encourages fraud and/or theft.

This is the largest site for speedsters and definitely used VS sales.  The more details, the quicker the sale.

You can also post your car for sale FREE on TheSAMBA and ReinCARnation.  They cover a non-Speedster owning audience.  Most here already have a Speedster.

I know a lot of people think its a pain but the fastest way to sell your car is to put it on Ebay.  Most folks on Ebay are actually looking to buy.  Probably very few on this site are real buyers.  Most of us are owners.

ebay over this site absolutely. But tons of cars pass without hitting the reserve there too ....

Ebay is all about exposure.  Its usually pretty easy to figure out who the serious buyers are and who are the tire kickers.  Unfortunately you also have to watch out for the scammers.  Lots of those.

Most of the 40 Speedsters I've sold were listed on eBay.   There are scammers out there, but Alan Merklin gave me the most important tip when I first started and it's the cardinal rule.  NEVER ship a car until all of the money is in your bank account.  I even go one step further, I withdraw it and spend it. :-)

@WNGD guess it depends on the buyer.  I was the opposite. I passed on many cars on eBay, in favor of a speedster offered through this site.  Given the nature of a replica, I felt it best to purchase off an enthusiast, rather than someone who assembled it @ss-backwards and the only way to tell was either through photos or flying across the country to find out.
But don't get me wrong, I'm not disagreeing that eBay sells a lot of cars fast.  I prefer Troy's method.  Offer it up to SOC a few days prior to eBay.

IMHO a few basic pics of the vehicle and the seller's phone number (and maybe email contact) should pretty much cover it. Just as @MM has done.

Call it a hunch, but I would guess a 'serious' buyer (which would probably eliminate 90% of the regulars on here) would call the number provided and ask for additional details and pics. Otherwise, as we have seen time & time & time & time again, the mob dynamic kicks in and the 'feeding frenzy begins. 

I'm just saying...

I bought a bad a$$ looking speedster on ebay and wound up having to completely rebuild it...

Then I had my second speedster sell on ebay never to see the money as the buyer flaked out!

I got that you are a car guy and that in this forum you are a big deal. However, I was given this website by a car guy who works on and has sold speedsters. Honestly, I don't want your opinion about the price, or your opinion on what you think may or may not be wrong with  the vehicle I'm trying to sell based on 4 pictures. As a matter of fact I don't understand how in a classified section how my email box could be filled up with a bunch of people talking ****.

For those of you that gave good advice thank you. My intentions were to sell the car not waste peoples time by trying to gather information. Never the less I appreciate the help.

I'm trying to sell a vehicle so I would appreciate it if you are not interested in the vehicle stay off this thread. Troll somewhere else. If you don't like the classified section on this website contact the website master.

On this site, we usually reply with a quote of the offending or inspiring post we wish to respond to.

Actually, Stan was giving a humorous spin on a fact.  Most of us are already owners.  

Parts sell well between owners, and a well-known special build will get highly supported.  You’d do better selling a generic VS on eBay to people less in the know.

Stan is an awesome dude on many many levels & I’m sure that he meant what he said in a helpful way.

I'm not sure hat just happened, but I'm with you MM.

It's kind've my white whale to make the "Classified" section of our little home a place to, I don't know... actually sell stuff-- rather than getting a running commentary on why the seller won't sell, and what's wrong with his car, and how he's asking too much.

I'm sorry my attempt to explain what happens here in a humorous way was mistaken for the very thing I'm trying to arrest. I wish you nothing but success in your sale. Your ad is fine and your price is good.

MM,  this classified section is not only a venue for selling but also includes the occasional fun induced ribbing. We don't always go by the rules but is, how we roll as we are an extended family less the arguments. Good luck with your sale ~
