Just pulled up the 959 ad.

Got me thinking...

As much as folks here generally dis the 359 kits, it might be fun and arguably pretty cool—if one could be got for cheap—to build a Subie turbo 359 and then lift it a little, put some white seven-spoke mags and knobbies on it and wrap it in a pre-distressed Rothmans/Shell livery.

I don't believe I've seen one dolled-up this way yet and the original's setup would be all the excuse needed to install the intercooler so it juts through the rear deck...

And—oh!—the semi-believable stories you could make up about lunatic pro-rally drivers and crews as to why and how it ended up as a convertible!

Just squint, guys.

I read once that Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, both of Microsquash, each bought original 959s.   There is a long-ish story around them, too.  I also read that those 959 models sold for just north of $250,000 each, but it cost Porsche twice that to produce them.  They had air cooled cylinders and water cooled heads.  Sounds like something Stan might try.  They probably come with dry sump oiling, too.

And they have a grant total of 300 miles put on them each.....I can't see Bill Gates driving it the way it needs to be driven at all. And I can't see Ballmer fitting
