Anyone like to buy a 'new' 1978 IM speedster? I have decided to buy something else, and would like to sell this car. Based on 1966 VW pan, with all new mechanicals - brakes, engine rebuild, etc. Car was bought as a coach in 1978, and professionally assembled in 2000. Since then, it has gone 450 miles. Gelcoat red, tan interior, 1600 c.c. engine, chrome wheels with Porsche hubcaps. I have done a number of upgrades on the car, and had fun doing them.

This is a very solid car - I drove a few others before buying this one and this was the best. It would be a good car for someone who wants to buy a basic Speedster and do some improvements - bigger engine, etc.

I can email pictures. $15,000 Cdn. but quite flexible. Car is located less than one hour from Toronto.

Thanks

Hey Ron, did I tell you about the red 1999 IM that I took for a test drive and ran the crap out of it. Every shift was a 7 grand slam dunk. Seldom used the clutch and peed myself all over the fine tan leather, when a almost T-boned a semi just coming off of the Cambie Street Bridge. I heard some knuckle head bought it. I feel sorry for that guy! (ha, ha)

Ron

p.s. R.C., don't believe anything you read above. It just didn't happen (ha, ha)

Sorry, Ron. I can't talk - I'm off to Vancouver. I might even drop into Intermeccanica when I am there, and see what's for sale these days.

I have been warned, however, to watch out for the local yokels who hang around there dispensing 'advice' ("Sure, that's a great car -I'd buy it!"), and offering to do 'favours' ("I'll test drive it for you - what's a clutch?"), for unwitting strangers.

Bob
