Pete:   I have been restoring old BMW bikes for about 25 years. Love the one that I have now and have been focusing on my Speedster. I ride my K1600GTL on long tours and to the BMW International Rally every year. This year I'm crossing Canada to hit all the Western Provinces and dropping down into Washington. The rally is in Great Falls Montana.

I love bikes!  And, have been on two wheels since I was 4! ;-)

Hey Pete, since you're along the path to Carlisle, wanna join the caravan this year?  I don't know which day I'll be passing by, but it'll probably be Wednesday.  Also, at some point this spring I need to head up that way and meet Danny Piperato to pick up the trailer I'm buying from him.  Maybe I could swing by, meet you, and have a beer or something.

Yes that would be great !

no more motorcycle stuff do not want to be kicked off site  motor heads like all things with wheels and gasoline    LOL

I'll quit riding mc when they pry it out of my cold dead hands .... hopefully the motorcycle didn't contribute to them

A friend of mine's father was riding into his mid 80s and I hope to follow in his foot steps.. errrrr ....tire tracks...

I've been riding since I was a kid and still have an 1800cc in the garage.

Gordon:  My senior year of high school, 1972, the last day before graduation... my friend picked me up outside of school on his Norton Commando.  He proceded to ride with me hanging on for dear life, up the loading dock ramp, through the doors and into the hall.

I went to a large school with over 2500 kids at the time. The school footprint was a large rectangle. He rode right around the rectangle, stopping in front of the Principal's office. He sat there reving the engine with oily exhaust and loud backfireing going on.... then burned out with the rear end drifting right and left leaving a big black line of burned tile and rubber right in front of the main entrance!  We both had half helmets and glasses on. As we rounded the 3rd corner of the rectangle heading for the doorway, I looked back and could only see thick black smoke!  We got away clean, down the ramp and out on to the street.

Right after that, a kid whos parents owned a meat distributor for restaurants and groceries, let about 30 live chickens go right inside the front entrance.... Our prank fell off the radar screen as all of the office folks chased the chickens around the school for hours.  lol!!! One of my favorite motorcycle stories!

Last week the shop went on a retreat to the Talladega AL area for some team building and to ride our mountain bikes. It rained one day so we couldn't ride, so we had to do something. Well, near by was the Barber Motorsports Museum. I don't and have never owned a motorcycle, but I love anything mechanical especially if it makes noise and smells of gasoline. The wife says I can't have one because I'm too aggressive behind the wheel, or in this case, bars.

This place was amazing. It was total sensory overload. If anyone happens to be in the area, I'd highly recommend a visit. It was mostly motorcycles, ranging from the beginning of two wheeled motoring to modern machines. There were also some automobile displays.

I'll leave you with one of my favorites. There was too many to post here.

Capt America

Again, it was 4 floors of sensory overload.
