I had my eye on that one too.......seller has zero feedback, which might scare a few potential buyers off.......it got up over $33k last time, but didn't meet reserve. The seller had a buy it now for $36k in one auction. Looks like it got close the last time........maybe $35k would get it done. I'd love to have that car if I could pull it off financially. Tough times we're living in, lots of options for people with cash, as those without cash are letting their toys & treasures go.
This car has the 1776CC engine, and a color that some love and others don't. I have seen a few real 356's and one IM in Stone Grey. Henry gets the color right, and if you like classic 356 looks, it is nice IMHO. If you like a classic, original looking and driving car, this one would be very nice. It will perform like a 1959 Convertible D with the Normal engine, and Stone Grey is an original color for this year. It has the square weave carpet, and nice leather interior. I think that in this market, with winter coming up, $30,000 would be a fair price for this car. $35,000 will get a car with the 2110CC engine and upgraded transmission.
I too would like to get it I could swing it right now, but as they say timing is everything and the time for is NOT now unfortunately, but I agree that the unusual color doesn't help it although there are some that prefer a period color I think most favor the more tradtional black silver or reds. The black IM roadster that was on ebay that ended a few days ago I think was also a sign of the weak economy only reaching a little more than $20K, in stonger times I think it would have fetched at least $30K< I contacted the seller for reserve which was $35K, although he wasn't shy about saying he would work with the price, OH and the other plum speedster offered by the same seller as the stone gray is also not doing well although to me the price is definitely a factor when buying a newly built speedster I think thing most people would like to choose their color combination and again although plum is a nice color it certainly isn't pleasing to everyone at least not like a silver or red or black that is chosen more often. If the black IM roadster last week had A/C I Might have thought about cashing in some of my CD's, a worthy reason for sure.
