Listed many times recently...back in Feb of this year listed by South Atlanta Motorsports. Now on ebay purportedly for sale from Brigantine, NJ. Pics on the ebay ad are picked from the SAM site's prior listing. 

If you check the pics from the SAM site, you'll see a pic of the back seat area where there is an odd, box like hump athwartship. I'm wondering if they'd placed the rad back there....and if so, the car may not cool very well and keep the sales/price down. 

I don't know much about JPS cars but now note that this one is a pan based, IRS chassis and the title is 1974 VW which may or not fly in some places. The seat colours don't match the interior very well either....mid season...good price ?

The silver one in south Atl is still there ; it has red interior (unless he had another one I miss).
I'm in north Georgia and  drove down last January to checked out the silver with red interior one. (The seller says he has had this car since new and put 6k miles on it.)
I was aghast at the low quality construction. Just awful.
So ...although I am still tempted by a coupe, personally I would need to see one 'live and in person' before considering it.
What I am considering is selling my IM next year, to fund a 'real' coupe.

This JPS one being in the north east, I wondered if any of you knew it.

The car noted above that is a current ebay listing was sold earlier by South Atlanta Motorsports last Feb. Last night I was able to get on their site and in the "sold" area of their site they still showed many pics of the car that now is the ebay listing. Just for the record, I just got a detailed description of the car from the seller. It is titled in NJ as a 1974 VW. And now he says...

" the car starts and runs well and there are no issues other than the headlight switch being temperamental as noted in the selling description. Purchased the car in Atlanta and drove it to NJ with no issues. It does leak any fluids ( I'm sure he meant to say doesn't ) and should be fine for a road trip. He noted that AC is included as well as modern drivetrain but drives more like a vintage car than a Camry. Rad is mounted under the front with two fans and has never had a heat problem in stop and go traffic in 97 deg temps."

If someone needed a Coupe and can live with a pan base, this might be a good one. He did not reply to my question about why the seats are a different colour than the rest of the interior.

And the seller just confirmed that it does not leak anywhere. Vehicle is in NJ. 

Does anyone have any current knowledge or updates regarding JPS Coupe build quality?  There were previously posted very long threads of horror stories, including coupes with 4" of water in the floorboards when it rained, doors that would not open, and even cars catching fire!  I think this car is certainly a "dream car" for many of us, but I would like to hear from other community members before making a serious bid.

As others said - they all have to be sorted out.  I recall one of the initial green coupes showing up at Carlise (know for torrential rain whenever the Speedster show) with couple inches of water in floor pan.  Fellow SOCs worked on that one to make water tight (and a host of other tweaks).  Just don't expect any (save maybe a costly IM) to be perfect - modern-day assembly-line quality.  Like an old English sports car that has to be tinkered with.  Many go for piece of mind with a BlaseCut fire suppression system -, especially on air-cooled engines.  Fiberglass just increase intensity of a fire.

I have seen two jps subie coupes in the past year and have basically given up on them. The quality of build is simply awful. Sharp rough edges on the metal work, doors that do not fit. (They stick out from the car body as if not closed) I could even see day light through the firewall.  Lots of corners cut. Not the level of project I want to take on in the $35- $40 range. (I could rebuild a BMW e9 or e10 for that and actually make a little money.) I look forward to seeing Carey's. I bet they will be great.

One car listed in Atlanta about the same time as the silver one (it was a non-metallic gray with decal) was built by JPS on a STOLEN  chassis. I uncovered the issue and notified South Atlanta Motorsports. Detective was involved and helped Brian get the title straightened out eventually. If you do anything with a JPS build, make sure you have both MOTOR and CHASSIS serial numbers checked by Auto Crime Prevention Task Force in your state. They have the big insurance data base. Another JPS build came up with serious salvage title issues (like totaled twice). Report discrepancies to proper agencies for follow up. Others builders are out there and reputable.
