The system I waited 6 months for from one of the above vendors had to be modified to fit then recoated. The headers were a full 2" too far apart to meet the muffler flanges after the headers were bolted to the engine and one of the muffler flanges also had to be reworked to line up the bolt holes on the header. Apparently the people welding these systems together aren't checking the fit on the mating parts or mounting them to an actual engine before sending them out. Another expensive lesson learned.
One thing to remember, You'll never find 2 Modified VW engines that have the same dimensions, parts differ, engine displacement differs and as such, port locations change with each combination of parts and engine displacement. When you order your exhaust, tell the vendor everything you know about your engine in hopes of getting a system that will fit with minimal complications.

As such, consider what was said in the above post.
to Larry's point ordering a muffler system "off the rack" has some perils, even if all is well with the assembly and welding. I bought a system from Vintage, got it in 10 days from time of order. It fit my 2109 just perfect. But, I decided to change engines. I built a 2332 with a high deck case and CE Heads. The headers were now 1.2" too narrow and there is no flex in them..... so out comes the saw and the torch... expanded each side by .6" by gas welding in a sraight section of tube....messed up the ceramic coat more than a bit, but it works. No fault of the maker or seller of the system....but to my point it would have been too wide for a 1600 stock configuration, just right for 2109+/- a few cc's, and too narrow for my expanded engine. Of course I didn't think about that until I had the engine back in the car and thought I was ready to drive in a half hour...
Maybe the suppliers should inform the customer that these systems are built to a fit a 2109 and may not fit exactly to their engine dimensions otherwise. I doubt the manfacturer would be inclined to custom build each unit. What fit a 2109 perfectly was alot different when bolted onto my 1915.
2275 in a beck. Rear section narrow by 1" or so. Expected it. There is enough flex to spread using a scissors jack & blocks to protect the finish. Stretch & release; check size after spring back; stretch & check again. Took about 4 iterations until relaxed size fit.
More of a problem with frame/exhaust interference involving the tube between the muffler and exhaust outlet on the psgr side branch- pipe was a little high and was contacting the bottom of the frame rail. Losened the tranny to muff strap nuts & ran a tapered wedge between the frame & pipe. Created a bit of space & then retightened tranny strap nuts.
More serious problem was 18% RWHP power loss compared to equal length 4 into 1 with Borla muff previously installed. (Will be repaired & reinstalled over the winter)
