Hi all.

I have trawled through the site here looking for suggestions to upgrade the shockers and sway bars for an early VW 60's chassis.

So sway bars and shockers, brands,  - options.. would be good to hear your thoughts on improvement if any found.

Thanks for any ideas, names or links

Since your car is on a swing axle pan the very least should be a front sway bar (Empi) and a rear camber compensator (C.B. Performance p/n 2819.  Just these two items made a world of difference in my VS's handling, ride and safety.

Then add the CSP Front beam suspension stiffener kit and 4 wheel disc brakes ( The C.B. Performance's kit  is a good one at a great price) and you will have amazing  improvement to your car.  Good luck!

I have the KYB GR-2 shocks on mine and like 'em.  The KYB Gas-Adjusts are too stiff for such light cars.  I'm told that is also true for Koni shocks.

I have a CB Performance camber compensator on the rear of my swing-axle car.  If your car is swing-axle you definitely need one of these.  If it's IRS use a sway bar.  Not sure what brand to recommend.

I have not yet put a front sway bar on mine and am not sure it needs it.  Might be a little tough to fit one to the Beck frame.

Danny- Bilsteins will work if they're custom valved for our cars, but they haven't made properly valved shocks for a street VW suspension for a number of years (so I'm told). They will do them tailored for our needs, but you have to know who to talk to. If you're serious, I have it written down somewhere. Al

My AC IM is not "standard", but I've got Konis. It was an upgrade, along with sway-bars and over-sized rear torsion bars.

Stan, your car kicks arse.  Now that I re-read my post, "Standard" comes off like not as good and that is not the fact.  I got a C- in literature
