A friend with a 1964 VW asked me for the best source for tires for his car. It's been a long time since I bought mine (and I don't even remember where I got those) and I know there are very few manufacturers who make the correct size. Where's the best place to go for them? Also, wasn't there a thread somewhere on how to make side curtain? If I remember correctly, there was even a parts list and a source for where to get them. Thanks-

The Vredestein link has both Vredestein and MultiMile tires in the correct size for $120 and $100 each. Enter 165/80x15 for size. Some VW guys like to use the 155/80x15 especially on the 4" wide rims - they seem to be NLA.

Discount Tire Direct has NanKang for $68 each. Kumho and Hankook used to come in that size too. Be cautious of Cooker Tire -they still have Michelin XZX but very old production dates. You want one made this year or late last year --- not 6 years ago.
here's the thread I created when I made my first set: https://www.speedsterowners.com/forum/readmsg.asp?t=15848

I have since had to make another, somewhat larger set as the new Stayfast top has larger side openings. I'm still tweaking the seals a bit on those.

Regarding tires, I cannot find a lot of selection from the usual online vendors in the standard 165/80-R15 size for a Beck. I have the 185/60 R15 upgrade, but they seem to induce a harmonic that occasionally makes the car shake like a tire is out of round even though all tires balance out smoothly. I am planning to go back to the standard size, but there sure isn't much selection. Has anyone had any experience with 175's?
