Would anybody out there know where i could find out from a CMC identification number(S1809)where and when the car was built?I live in England and bought the car about two and a half years ago,i imported it from a company called Lance Motors in New Jersey,i found out subsequently that they had purchased it at an auction.I received a receipt for the car stating that it was created in 1991 but unfortunately that is not enough evidence for the British government registering authority in this country.I have written to the Michigan State register for motor vehicles and am waiting for a reply.Any ideas from a person using this site would be very appreciated.i just need to gather as much information about this car as i can.Hope to hear from someone, best regards,ChrisHarding.

The vast majority (98% I'd suspect) were owner built (ha, with 70% still sitting in barns and garages unfinished - according to my wife). Assume you have a good US state issued title - a FL Certificate of Origin for the body would be helpful too. Unfortunately they all register them differently -- some as the VW chassis, some as a specially contructed vehicle and others as a 2007 or 1957 Porsche Speedster. Might try http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Fiberfab_CMC too

(Chris "Edwards" Aguilera former Parts Manager at Classic Motor Carriages and Fiberfab answers many questions there)
