I've been doing research on different Speedster manufacturers and I've narrowed my search down to two. I'm either going to buy a Vintage Speedster or a JPS Motorsports Speedster and I'm trying to decide between the two. It seems that both manufacturers offer similar products and that both offer a quality product.

Has anyone gone through the thought process of choosing between these two manufacturers and made a decision? If so, why did you pick one car over the other? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Also, when I emailed JPS Motorsports to ask them how they differentiate themselves from Vintage Speedsters, this is what they had to say, "We do an authentic copy with OEM side moldings and Glasurit German paint as original." Is Glasurit German paint better than what Vintage Speedsters uses? Is the Vinatge Speedster not as authentic as the JPS car? Any comments?

Thank you.

The owners of JPS and Vintage are good friends so you won't hear either trying to take a sell away from the other. Here you will find owners who will recommend the brand they bought, but to be fair you should call both John and Kirk and form your own opinion. For my two cents you can't go wrong with either. Maybe you should go through the owners profiles and contact a few Vintage and JPS owners for their off-site views.
I bought a JPS before I learned of this site from a used dealer. I am very, very happy with the car. I have owned 6 porsches, my family many more. My mother owned a 356 when I was a child. That's part of the reason why I bought the speedster when I first saw it. I've had numerous compliments about my car. Most, even porsche owners think it's original. I met John from JPS a couple of years ago when I rear ended someone. He fixed the car back into great shape. I can't tell, nor anyone else that I wrecked it. I'm not familiar with the other brands other than an original. I wouldn't trade this for an original because the drive is much better. I might only for its nolstalgic representation. I would call John and the other owners as mentioned in the other response.

From the owner of a JPS... I wouldn't think of buying something other than a JPS.

Good luck,
David
That's tough question..... I own a VS and have put 10,000 miles on it in 14 months. In fact I am in STL with it now, after a trip up from OKC.

I love my VS Speedster, and wouldn't trade it for another, except maybe a new IM Speedster. But, I also happen to think that the Black & Tan car John Steele at JPS built for John Leader (see registry) is an incredible appearing car. John is extremely pleased with it (ask him!).

My experience with Kirk Duncan, owner of Vintage (VS) has been an outstanding one. He is honest, reliable, he stands behind his product and his warranty, and he is accessable. My car has been nearly glitch free and the 2 minor glitches were fixed for free with the parts sent UPS overnight, and labor paid for (a clutch cable and a top bow fastner failure). The car is rattle free and everything works as I expect. It is a blast to drive, and yeah, it's a people magnate.... and all the time I get 911/930/Boxster owners assuming it's the real deal. (I tell them the truth though.... and with that the local PCA chapter still invites me to their show and shines, etc.) Look at my files under members: Dub U Tub. I think the car's appearance speaks for itself...

JPS or Vintage. I think JPS puts out a beautiful car, and they may be more willing to do some "different mods, like a Type IV engine. But, based on my experience with VS, well I will remain a loyal customer... that is until I can justify the cost of a new IM Speedster.
