I’m looking for some touch up paint for my VS. Anyone know where Kirk found this color?

I’ve seen a few others with the same paint, so it couldn’t have been a one-off.

Here’s Troy driving one with the same color:

And I’ve attached a few photos below.

Ryan, I've been getting custom-mixed touchup paint from Jerry's Paint & Supply (3358 Fulton).

I've gotten a few small bottles (they dry out in time) and each has been a perfect match. I did have a PPG paint code (that I got from Kirk when I bought the car), but these guys should be able to fix you up even if you don't have one.

They're pros and supply paint to many local paint shops. They should be able to tell you over the phone if they can help.

@Ryan (formerly) in NorCal Are you masking off the car prior to painting or are you disassembling the car prior to painting. I watched a video recently from a guy that restores old Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. He shows how he disassembles them prior to painting and replacing the wheels etc. Not sure if the process for these newer cars is the same as the old cars though. The job you did on that car looks great however you did it.

My experience with paint camera formulas is that they are almost never a perfect match and they will tell you there is a margin of error of + or - 20%.  That's probably fine for painting a model car, but if you are planning to paint a small section of a car it's going to require blending and even then it will be noticeable.  Even if you are painting an entire door edge to edge it might be noticeable.  Metallic paint just makes it even more of a problem to match.

I was a painter in a body shop and we bought all our paint from Jerry’s. And when I worked as a painter for “Colors on Parade” mobil auto paint company, we also bought from Jerry’s, as I also have for painting my personal cars and motorcycles. In our mobil paint truck, I matched the paint colors with our own computer.

Hello from France,

Not my habit to post, but I own a "sea foam green" VS since 2012. It has been really difficult to obtain de paint code from Kirk. Cathy replied to me it was a PPG Paint code : DBC 401512 with no correspondance in Europe. I finaly succeeded to identify a correpondance : CHRYSLER YQS AQUAMARINE.DSC_0483DSC_0496I hope that I'm not too late.

I thank you for all your different posts, it helps a lot !

It’s crazy to see how friendly this forum is ... j’adore !

@Troy Sloan : I a big silent fan of you and I patiently wait for the day you will succeed to create the winter version of your cruzinwindows va for VS. I read you have renounced, but you can’t seriously :-) Some guys like me, out of California, count on you !!!

The car came in France in 2009 and it was the last year to succeed. Nowadays, it became almost impossible and the price for the 356 replica in France increased a lot (45 to 55k$ depending on state/mileage)

To Troy : it’s crazy to read your interest ! I’m one of your silent fan waiting for the day you will succeed to build a winter evolution of your cruzinwindows. I read that you decided to give up but you can’t. Some VS guys, like me, wait for patiently the day you will succeed :-)

Considering the way to drive a 356 replica in France, it was easier until 2009, the date that car came in France. Nowadays, it’s very difficult and the price increased a lot. 44k€ to 55k€ depending state/mileage.

Tranlation for you guys:

We have the same problem here the market has completely changed and the price are up as well.

Aircooled, I believe, built a custom set traced to the outline of the car but, they are unique to every car.  This is the construction standard of this hobby.
